Cramping at 32 Weeks

I am 32 weeks pregnant with my second child (first one is 2). My first pregnancy was easy, but this one has been the total opposite. 2 weeks ago I started to get the menstrual feeling often and it was very uncomfortable, but not painful. She also would kick me very low and that was painful. My doctor (actually saw the PA) said this is nothing to worry about as long as there is no bleeding, loss of fluid or my uterus isn't contracting. However, Monday the cramping in the lower part of my tummy started to really hurt to the point I had to sit down and take deep breathes. This was very uncomfortable for about 30 and then I was okay. I'm starting to get more and more of these cramping like feelings in the lower part of my stomach. I am also getting a little bit of an upset stomach. So, is this all normal? Should I be having this much discomfort this early? I find myself holding my stomach and taking deep breaths and just wanting to relax. Any tips??

thanks!

What can I do next?

you need to take it easy, just like another poster said. Slow down, stay off your feet more, don't lift heavy things. Babies are much happier that are born after 37 weeks. Do positive affirmations, such as My body is a strong safe place for my growing baby, etc. I typed birthing affirmations in and found some good sites on the internet that totally helped me get out of negativity and enjoy the last few weeks. Good luck!

I would call your doc... I started having issues around 31 weeks. Mainly when stressed & with 3 kids (6 and under) running around that can be often. My doc got upset at me because I didn't go o the ER... I though as long as my water didn't break I was ok, but I also noticed that the baby wasn't moving like normal during my issues.

A few weeks ago we went on a long walk - the "cramping" got so bad that I couldn't walk during them. I got really scared cause I was only 34 weeks along... it took all day for them to go away, but the baby was moving a lot so I was instructed to stay home that time. Now I'm being told no more long walks after all I'm pregnant - lol.

I just hit 37 weeks on Tues... so I'm considered full term now. I joke telling my hubby that he is waiting till the grandparents are out of town the Father's Day campout we can't attend (doc orders) & then he will show up. Only cause it will be harder to find someone to watch the other kids this coming weekend - lol.

Anyways - my doc said to do what ever it takes to relax when the crampin/pain starts... lay down, put your feet up, take a shower or bath, read a book, watch tv, ect. Try to watch/tack the baby movement & see if you can get it to go away. If it continues, to call him & he would instruct me from there.

But I would talk to your doc about it asap... he my have different instructions for you. Mine just wanted me to get passed 36 weeks... since I was told from the get-go that with this being #5 - I most likely wouldn't make it to full-term and it would suprise them if I made it to 40 weeks. But we will see... like I said I'm at 37 now.

Good luck & congratz on the baby!

My 3rd was like that. They call it round ligament pain and it just means that everything is stretching out and baby is growing (at least that is what my Dr. told me). I always felt like my baby would pop out every time I stood up! It may be that baby has dropped (they drop earlier with each pregnancy).

Take it easy, drink lots of water (to make sure you are not getting dehydration cramps) and walk. You can try a belly band, but I never did. Oh, and maybe an hour in the pool will take some of the pressure off.

Good Luck!

J.,
I am going thru the EXACT same thing right now!!! I am 33 weeks pregnant today with my second. I have been feeling the EXACT way and it makes me so miserable, uncomfortable and nervous. My doctor and PA told me the same thing yours told you!! I am just counting down the days to my due date as I am so tired and had enough of this! I swear I feel like I'm in labor at times!!!
Good luck!
B.
p.s. my due date is Aug 5.

I had this happen with my second child probably around 30 weeks on. They were painful contractions (not Braxton Hicks). They would take my breath away sometimes and I'd have to sit (they got worse around 35, 36 weeks) They were inconsistent but they were successful at causing me to dilate early on. I ended up 4 cm by 37 wks, 2 days and delivered then. They could be true contractions. As long as they are inconsistent, I wouldn't worry too much. But continue checking in with your OB if it just doesn't feel right to you. I didn't take it easy with my second pregnancy. I had my first child and he ran me ragged; I lifted him constantly and just never really slowed down but should have. My advice is to let you husband do more and just slow your life down. Stop lifting things and limit your walking. When you feel your body is tired, rest no matter what. Drink loads of water! You don't want this baby here before 37 weeks!!

If its getting worse, then you should go back to your doctor. There may be something underlying that isn't quite noticeable at first, but as it progresses is easier to identify. That doesn't sound normal to me at all.

Probably OK, but I would go see your OB. It doesn't hurt to be cautious. If nothing else it will give you peace of mind-it's not good for either of you to be stressed.

Have you called your doctor or PA? This far along it could be premature labor. Call NOW!
