I have had slight cramping the entire time. Tonight I have thick brown discharge coupled with period like cramps. I had a bit last week too. Has anyone else had this happen? This is my second baby and I didn't have this with my first. A little concerned....My son was 6 weeks early.

Also I am high risk. I have already had 3 v** ultrasounds.....

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Yes the pregnancy has been confirmed and heard the heartbeat last week, although it was a little slower than they would like. I have another ultrasound on Friday.

I lost the baby Thursday night.....

I had cramping and discharge also around 8 weeks that scared me to death...it was the embryo implanting but I wouldn’t of known had I not gone to the drs. Since you already have an appointment for Friday I would wait till then IF you are miscarrying there is nothing you can do anyway. I know its scary but hang in there.

I had both those things for my 3rd.

Cramping: It's dehydration. Drink MUCH more water.

The bleeding for me was a low placenta (spotted in ultrasound) and stopped later in the pregnancy.

I had bleeding when I was about that far along. I was in a panic, tears... I left work and called my OB wanting to come in right away.
He explained to me that at this stage there is NOTHING that they can do to save your baby should there be a problem. There are no drugs or procedures they can give you to avoid a miscarriage at 8 week - if it has already started.

The bleeding could be completely innocent (it was in my case) or it could mean a miscarriage under way. He advised me to take it easy and make an appointment for an Ultrasound and if the bleeding got heavy (soak a pad in an hour or less) to go to the ER.

As I said, in my case everything turned out fine. There was a hematoma (basically a bruise) under my placenta and I kept spotting for a few weeks until it was resolved. Baby girl had a strong heartbeat and was born perfectly healthy.

I would advise that you call your OB and see what they say, at 8 weeks they should be able to find a heartbeat by Ultrasound, that could really put your mind at ease.

Call your OB. It could be something, or nothing. It's not something you can wait on, though. Drink some water and try to relax, but get into your Dr. ASAP.

I would call your OB/GYN right away. They will tell you if you should be concerned or not and you can get peace of mind. By the way, I wad the worst cramps of my life in the early weeks of my pregnancy. I can't remember when they actually stopped. I did not have any colored discharge though. Baby and I were both healthy and I was told that the cramping was normal for some. Call the doctor, there is no shame in that!

The only way to know what is happening is to see your doctor. I had this with my first pregnancy and it turned out to be a "blighted ovum". An egg sac that never developed into an embryo. An ultrasound was needed to identify that.

Oh, sweetie. Make an appointment with your ob/gyn first thing in the morning. I'm sure it can mean nothing. I have heard of this happening to other women, and everything was fine. But go see your doc to make sure.
Blessings to you.

Find out if it's a subchorionic hemorrhage. My sister and I both had one with our babies and were able to carry them. (My sister's son was a preemie only because of pre-e, not bleeding.)

If the baby is bigger than the hemmorhage, they don't worry so much. Brown blood is old blood. I had had a previous miscarriage so I was freaked out, but the OB was calm.

You need to talk to the doctor about this, for sure.
That said, thick brown discharge could be a way of your body sloughing off some old blood in your uterus while it makes the healthy stuff for your baby to be implanted in.
I had terrible cramping and bright red blood during my early pregnancy with my son and that was a really bad sign.
Some discharge and even spotting can be normal, but you need to talk to your doctor.
My son was born perfectly fine and healthy, by the way.

When in doubt....see your doctor.

Best wishes.

I would make an apt with your OB first thing. If the blood takes on a pink tinge more than a brown along with the cramps don't wait until morning.
I hope it's nothing. I wish you the best.

I just saw your addition. Did the blood coincide with any of the ultrasounds? It could be that being "tender" the wand irritated your uterus and caused it to spasm.

Call your OB/GYN.
Then go into the office after making your appointment.
They have to examine you.
Don't guess.

Doctors, can be reached anytime... by pager/the physician exchange.
You are having cramping.
Did you have any sex lately?

Just call your Doctor.

I had this with my second pregnancy (twins) one day when I overdid it, but I was 15 weeks along. Doctor gave me my Rhogam shot early (Are you Rh-?) and put me on pelvic rest for a couple of weeks. (No making whoopie.) Everything turned out fine and I had two healthy babies 13 weeks later.

Good luck to you. Definitely talk to you doctor. Have you had a confirmation ultrasound?

My first two pregnancies were textbook perfect. The 3rd was scary: bright red, period-like bleeding in the 2nd trimester (12-13 wks) for about two weeks; then low amniotic fluid in the third trimester, and a near emergency c-section during labor... Our son was born full-term, perfectly healthy, they never did find a reason for the bleeding or the low fluid, so it just goes to show you never know (despite the scary stories courtesy Google... I know, I read them all!). Hope everything is fine with your little one! Definitely worth a call and visit to your OB, if for nothing else than peace of mind. :)

I don't like the docs answer. Granted he is right there maybe nothing you can do but you are his patient and your worries and fears need to be addressed and more importantly taken care of. I went to the restroom at 9 wks and when I wiped it was pink. I panicked and went to the doc. Without one cramp I was misscarring the baby. I couldn't believe it. I had to have a d& c. One week later I got pregnant with my now 4 yr old and during that pregnancy I bled bright red blood for about 4 full days and I needed to wear a pad. So it could be nothing, could be something. They need to see you tomorrow. Period! Good luck love
