Craft Storage/Display

My 3 1/2 year old takes a craft class once a week. He brings home the cutest crafts of all shapes and sizes. Most of them are centered around his hands and/or feet. I love them all.

BUT, we must have about 20 different crafts. I hung up a bunch in the play room and around the house.
What the heck do I do with them all?? Throwing them out is not an option. After all, he worked so hard on all of them. I guess I could just get a big storage box and keep them all in there...
He is so proud of them, I hate to just toss them in a box.

Any creative ideas to keep these crafts???

What can I do next?

C.,
I recently had this conversation with some moms at school waiting in line to pick the kids up from dismissal. One mom had a great suggestion that she read about. She said to get a brand new pizza box (ask for an unused one to take home next time you get take out or dine in)and whatever fits in it you keep. It will hold all different shapes and sizes and fold for easy storage and not take up too much room. Once the box is full you can tape it shut and label it by year then put it in the attic. I thought this was such a brilliant idea that I am going to try it myself. As they get older they can help choose what can go in the box for safe keeping. Have fun!!!

Hi C.,

I saw a suggestion in a magazine. Take photos of the crafts, pay a large poster frame, and have him help you arrange the photos in the frame. Then you can put the crafts into storage, but part of them will still be displayed.

I have a wall that I decorate for each holiday/season. So I store the crafts by holiday. Each holiday/season we decorate that wall. Now that the girls are older, I don't do it much, but its nice to see the crafts they made back when they were in preschool.

Every time a relative comes over I ask my daughter if she wants to give them a piece of her art work. She is so proud to share them and they are happy to take them. You could take a few pieces of some of them too and make a collage and frame it...otherwise just store them like you said. Have fun.

My sister has a friend that made a book out of them. I am not quite sure how she put it together, but she had all of the kids artwork and good schoolwork together in a book. I think my sister said she got a binder with the clear plastic pocket type pages that go into binders and just folded up their artork and put them in the pockets. I know she has one for each school year.

I personally have saved my daughter's for awhile and then I go through them awhile later and keep only the ones that really make me smile. I know how hard it is at that age to throw things away - but when it really starts to pile up - - - you get practical. If I didn't throw ANYTHING away - I would have an entire room dedicated to storing her artwork.
