Cough - West Hills,CA

We went to the doctor and found out my son has an ear infection. He's had a few, so no big deal. But for the last five nights he has this cough and nothing seems to help. He is only three, so cough medicines are not safe. His peditrician said we could give him benadryl. I just did, but he is still coughing. We've tried humidifiers, propping him on pillows, and vicks plug ins. Does anyone out there have any tricks? PS I am ready to go into labor any second.

Try Chestal, you can find it in Whole Foods. My Dr. recommended it for our 2 year old and we have been using it ever since (now 3 1/2) It is all natural and tastes like honey. It really works too! I have actually used it myself. Good luck..hope this helps. Oh, if you find Maty's or Mady's (cant remember the spelling) which is also natural, dont buy it, it is disgusting! It was so sweet and artificial none of my kids would use it. Gross :(

Hi JR sorry to hear your little one is not feeling well. Try Pediacare cough medicine. Benedryl is a medicine for allergies, not coughs. The 3 year old in my daycare's pediatrician told his mom to give him beneadryl for his cough as well and it did not help. Pediacare cough and cold medicines in my opinion are safer and work better. I pray your son is feeling better soon. Also keep using the humidifyer and try and keep him sleeping in a reclining position, not laying flat down, this always help my kids when they were little. J.

you can give them cough meds. my daughters dr said to give her childrens cough meds and just cut the smallest dose in half. they labled these meds "insafe" due to parents being retarded and over dosing their kids because they couldnt take the time to read the dosage directions!. did they check his lungs? this could be asthma. my daughter coughs a lot at night and shes asthmatic. also her lungs are always clear and she has not wheezed. YOU DONT HAVE TO WHEEZE TO HAVE ASTHMA!!! if it doesnt go away soon take him back to the dr. there are meds they can give him
