Is Costco or Sams better for diapers, formula, baby wipes etc? I currently have a Costco membership that will expire in a month.

What can I do next?

I actually like Costcos diapers better but Sams work great and are way cheaper. The Costco wipes were great but irritated my sons skin so we use Sams wipes... and again, they are cheaper. Sams has a GREAT version of Pull-Ups for both boys and girls!

I guess I really do think Costco has a better quality diaper and wipe but I ended up going with Sams all the way. We have a membership at both and have tried all of the above.

Good Luck!

I love Costco's Kirkland brand stuff. In my opinion, Costco has a better selection/quality of baby stuff.

FYI -- The Costco brand diapers are the same as Huggies Ultratrim diapers. Kimberly Clark makes them both -- same diaper, different brand names. The Sam's brand diapers are different from all the others, and tended to run small.
I'm not sure if Costco does this, but the Pampers diapers at Sam's had a size 1-2, which is an "in-between" size. It wasn't very useful to us because they're too small for a baby who wears size 2 diapers, but rather big on a baby who wears size 1.

We've only ever had a Sam's card.
We have always gotten better diaper deals with coupons. Babies R Us will have great deals like $5 of any box of Pampers or Huggies, plus they will take manufacturers coupons on top of that. Since there are plenty of $2 coupons, we got great deals there. Get on the diaper and formula manufacturer websites and sign up for their mailing lists. You'll get all kinds of samples and coupons in the mail.

Also, the smaller "jumbo" pack diapers often go on sale for $6.99 or $7.99 at grocery stores, Target, etc.. When you couple that with a $2 coupon, it's a great deal too. It takes 4 or 5 of those little packages to get through a month, whereas one of the big boxes is about a month (in the beginning that is -- you go through fewer diapers as they get older).
Either way though, we kept the diaper budget around $30/month.

Sam's did have great deals on formula. Especially if you use the Parent's Choice brand (the Walmart store brand). They've expanded the types of formula for that brand -- now they offer soy, lactose-free, and even organic. It's always significantly less expensive than the national brands. I believe that it was $5 to $10 less per 32 oz can than Enfamil (for the powdered formula).

For the national brands I didn't notice any difference between Sam's and Babies R Us. We used Carnation Good Start with our first (after nursing for 6 months), and Parent's Choice soy-based formula with our second (after nursing for 4 months).

Congratulations!

I use Costco for their baby wipes. They are by far the best wipes on the market and way cheaper than pampers, or huggies brands. As for diapers...I buy them at Babies R Us. You can use their in store coupons with a manufacturers coupon and save up to $7.00 on Pampers or Huggies. The box size is the same at Costco and Sam's vs. Babies R Us too so it is a real savings. Also, Costco carries Huggies and Sam's carries Pampers. They aren't allowed to carry the competitor together. :(

I bought a huge box of diapers from sam's at what I thought was a fantastic price, ($35 for a box of around 200 newborn diapers Pampers Swaddlers) only later I found Kroger had the exact thing for almost $15 cheaper! Normally I'd say yes, go to Sams/Costco, and I've looked everywhere else to find a good deal, but check your local Kroger, surprisingly I found alot of great baby products, and they have alot of sales/discounts with your Kroger card.

I have both memberships and I like Sams better for baby stuff. Sams sells Pampers and their brand and Costco does Huggies and their own brand. I buy the pampers swaddlers for my kids when they are little and when they get to size 3 I switch to the Sams brand ones which are much cheaper & I think just as good as pampers. I had no luck with huggies or the Costco brand ones-lots of leaks-but i know people who love them. My favorite wipes are actually the target brand ones that say on the box "compare to Huggies newborn/sensitive". I bought the store brand formula at Sams that is like Enfamil & that is much cheaper also. I know people who get better deals using coupons and following sales but I like being able to stock up & I'm not good at keeping track of coupons so Sams works well for me. Both stores will let you return diapers if you are not happy with the store brand after trying them-not sure about formula & wipes but I would think it would be the same policy on the store brand stuff.
Congrats on the baby boy!!
