My husband is a wonderful handyman...he has been asked to paint a couple of rooms for some friends. Anyone have a say about what he should charge??

Try DFW Painting. Their prices are reasonable and their work is good.
Our rooms are small to average. They quoted $200 for walls and $107 for the ceiling for our Master (16' X 22'). Trim and door painting was additional. Another painter quoted $800 for the same room.

In my experience, most handymen charge by the hour regardless of the task. He should ask himself what his time is worth, give them an hourly rate and tack on costs for supplies and materials.

When my Husband first started doing fences, he would call other fence company's to get a quote on what he needed a price for. Just to get an idea of where abouts his price range should be.
Maybe your Husband can call a couple of painting companys to get a quote and then match their price or go a little cheaper since it is for friends.
Wish I could give you a direct answer but hope that helps! : )

We just had some paiting done & paid 400-600 per room. It included the cost of pain. I imagine the complexity of the job needs to be taken into consideration, however. Our's was pretty simple.

My hubby is a contractor- he uses a book called "Interior Home Improvement Costs" Sub title The practical pricing guide for homeowners and contractors. It is put out by RS Means Company. He said the library may have it or Half Priced Books.
DH also said to make sure you DH takes into consideration his travel time/expense and cost of materials.
