Cost of Daycare - Lockport,IL

I was trying to get an idea of how much daycare costs for an unlicensed, in-home sitter. Does it make a difference in cost whether the babysitter claims the income? Does it matter how many children the babysitter watches or ages? I was looking for prices for 8 hours a day for a child under 1 year old. Thanks for your help!

What can I do next?

I do not support "baby sitters". You may have a better chance with an association near you. They have a listing of people who are trained to care for children in a safe environment.

It does make a difference for you if they claim the income. If they do, you write it off your taxes!!! That can be huge! Because of that when I switched from a licensed in home day care to a unlicensed I dropped how much I paid.

I paid a licensed in home babysitter $7 an hour for 2 kids (she was also a friend from high school so my rate may have been lower than normal). I pay my unlicensed babysitter a flat $100 a week for whatever amount of time my one child is there per week. She feeds her and drives her to preschool 3 times a week.

Good luck!

I am a home daycare provider and charge 200 per week for 0-2 and 180 for 2 and up (full time). I did a lot of price searching around the west suburbs and I fall right in the middle upper end. Prices are based on experience, education, and child's age. Keep in mind you often tend to get what you pay for so anything too low may be a red flag. Hope this helped.

Are you looking for an in-home daycare or a nanny to come to your house?

I live in Bolingbrook and I pay my daughter's (23 months) nanny $250 a week coming to my home from 8am until 5pm...I drive her home also. Hope that helps. I know rates/fees vary so much!
