Convertible Crib Help
How to I convert my crib into a toddler bed? We got a convertible crib and we got it from Babies R Us before my daughter was born (back in 2007). When it was delivered, they also brought to pieces that are to be used when the bed becomes a full size bed (it's for the sides). But we remember the guy saying something about needing to purchase a different piece when we go from crib to toddler bed. Well, I've been looking everyone on Babies R Us website for this extra piece and can't find anything about it. So I was wondering if anyone knew anything about convertible cribs. If I'm not mistaking, the brand name is Simplicity. I would look in the manual that came with the crib, but it's misplaced somehow!! Any help you can give me, would be great!! Thanks in advace!!

Go to Simplicity's website and download a new manual. If they don't have it available call customer service to request a new one. Usually one side of the crib st unscrews and you have a three sided crib that they consider a "toddler" bed. The mattress should be in the lowest position for the conversion.

We have a convertible crib that we purchased when my daughter was born (2006) that my son is in right now. We didn't have to purchase anything extra. There was an extra wood piece that came with the crib that wasn't used until the crib went down to the toddler level. I am not sure if that helps but normally there is a different piece (for the front) on the convertible cribs but I would thing it would come with you bed though... Having to purchase additional pieces would kind of defeat the purpose. Sorry I can't be of more help but hopefully some of the other ladies have a better insite. Good Luck to you!

Yeah....Good luck!! We went through the same thing with babies r us. When we bought our crib it didnt come with the rails to convert it, they told us we had to order it, and when we tried they couldnt find them or know how to order them. We finally gave up because no one could help us. I would suggest calling babies r us and TRY to order the piece you need. I would skip customer service and just ask for a manager, their customer service has never been any help to us. You really have to get on them. I thought when you bought a convertible crib that would mean you would be able to CONVERT it, nope pain in the butt! When ended buying our daughter a twin bed and luckily able to use the crib again for our new baby, other than that, it will be useless!

So why don't you just call the BRU store and ask for the store's manager to get help on this? Really, just call the store! They have a dedicated furniture desk at each BRU.

You might check to make sure your crib is not on the recall list. Just recently the US recall department (sorry I can't think of the website at the moment)recalled 400,000 Simplicity cribs and acroding to the website they said Simplicity is no longer in business. If your crib is on the list you can return it to the place you baught it for a full refund. If it is not on the recall list a lot of times you can look up manuals on the internet on the companies site but if they are out of business that might be a problem. The other option is to go to a full size bed and put up bed railings that you can get at places like Babies R Us, Target, Walmart, etc. Our crib was part of the recall and we already had a twin size bed and we got the bed rails and so far has worked out perfect. We looked into the toddler bed option but they are so over priced for the short amount of time you would use them. Good luck.

Is your wood or the metal tube kind? Our simplicity convertable was the tube kind. It came with all the pieces to turn into a toddler bed, daybed and full size headboard. If you can find a sticker underneath(ours is on the leg)you can get on the website for any xtra parts...

You can just call Simplicity and ask. There should be a model number on your crib (on ours it's on the bottom support rail on the inside) and a phone number for customer service, or you can look it up on their website). If you call Babies R Us, they might have some ideas too.
