i believe the only one on the market in the US with protection for side impact crashes is the Britax Blvd. It is a great car seat and can be used up to 65lbs. It was at the top of the consumer reports ratings. The britax marathon is also good but doesn't have the side impact protection ie the wings. The only downside to the Blvd is that it is big. The Blvd is also expensive but then the cargo is priceless. I have mine permanently installed in my car and when we travel, I bring the roundabout as it is lighter.

Britax Roundabout. The best price I've seen is at albeebaby.com at $159.50 with free shipping.

We have a Britax Roundabout convertible car seat that we are now using for our second son. It is a bit pricier, but I think it is of good quality, very comfy for tots, and has scored well in crash test ratings. Another car seat that I know that's highly recommended is the Evenflo Triumph (my sister's son has that one) which is a bit cheaper. Hope you find one that works for you and your daughter!

I have the Britax Marathon and I love it. It is soooo easy to transfer in and out of the car, too. Some carseats have those hooks that you have to clip onto the latches that are hard to get off. The Britax goes in like a seatbelt, so it can be taken out with a simple push of a button. We only got one because they're expensive, but I haven't minded switching it from car to car when necessary, because it's easy and quick

We have a Britax Marathon and it is by far the best carseat of the many we have had with our three children. Pricey, but you can usually find sales online. I got mine in a discontinued pattern on Amazon.com .

Hi M.! I don't know what price range you are looking at. But a reasonable priced one that I have is Safety 1st the Summit model. It's brown but it was the only one that had great safety ratings, good price (not expensive not cheap), and was the most comfortable. I know Britax is a good brand, I personally never bought one because of the price. But my sister in law bought one for her lil guy and he is outgrowing it. She isn't very happy with Britax. Best thing to do is look up the carseats you are interested in and look at their ratings. Then shop for the one you pick. A website that has carseats at discount prices is babyage.com Good luck!!!

We love our Britax Marathon. Exceptionally easy to get in and out of the car. Albeebaby.com has free shipping on carseats and better prices than Babies 'R' Us.

M.,
We just bought the Britax Boulevard CS because it has the Side Impact Protection and it goes up to 65 pounds. So even though it is expensive (350.00 at Babyland) I think it is worth it and will definitely last a long time. I would just make sure the carseat you choose fits in your car-check out www.carseatdata.com for tons of data on which carseat fits best. Good luck!

Hi M.,

I haven't used one yet (I'm still pregnant) but I chose mine off of the consumer reports ratings. The highest rated one for safety, price, ease of use etc. was the Evenflo Triumph 5,The second best was the Britax Roundabout, and the third best was the Cosco Alpha Omega Elite 22-155. I think they are all available at Babies R Us. I also found that when you are at their website, you can read parent reviews on various products. That has been helpful for me in terms of learning what parents didn't like about the various products to see if those concerns would bother me as well. Good luck!

We have the Alpha Omega Elite. Cosco makes it. My son has been in that seat for a couple years now and we purchased another one just like it for our daughter. We love it. It's a great seat. It is also very affordable and isn't going to break the bank. You can find them at Target and Babies R Us and probably some other places too. My sister has a Britax. Yeah, it's nice, but I think it's way overpriced.

Hi M.

I have heard amazing things about the Britax models, but we financially needed something that would last a little longer. We got the Graco Nautilus. It doesn't do rear-facing, but it will work from when they are a year until they can sit by themselves. It has a five point harness that works up to 65 pounds and then converts to a high back booster! It also scored very well in all crash test ratings. It is also has the easiest adjusting straps I have ever seen.
