Contemplating Work Options for After Baby's Born
Has anyone submitted a proposal to their employer with the idea to switch from regular full-time employee status to contract worker only? Really need some direction as we consider my not returning to work other than as a contractor. Thanks!

A. B,
You are a licensed prfoessional counselor? That means that you have to spend time away from the family, while making money. Maybe you need more capital so that you can begin your own practice.

A.,
Could you give me more info about what you do as a LPC? I am in graduate school trying to decide if I want to get an LPC or LCSW.

Hi A., I actually did that with an employer I worked for for after my first son was born. Come to find out his daughter did not like it and she created friction for me. I finally decided to work for myself. I work with a company that is expanding all over the country right now. I don't know if you have skill or the qualities of the person that their looking for. Here is my phone number. I can get you some information of what they have available and then we can go from there. If it's a match, great, if not, that's fine too. At least it's a chance for you to stay home with your new baby and still contribute to the family finances. Visit my website and let me know a time we can get together.
Sincerely,
K. Sansbury

A., I did this after my daughter was born. Simply put, when I went in to discuss the fact that I was not coming back from maternity leave, I was prepared with a proposal of ways in which I could still contribute on a contractual basis. They bought it. YOu just have to do your homework and sell the idea. It doesn't hurt if they really like you beforehand as well.
Incidentally, how do you like being an LPC? I'm interested in possibly pursuing that as a career, and perhaps eventually at PhD.
Good luck. It's tough balancing work and family.

Would love to do that but the corporation I work for won't consider it.
Perhaps a smaller firm would if you split the benefit cost.

I just recently came across a website for online counseling.
They are looking for Licensed professional counselors.
Here are a couple of websites that I found through google. Also, McAffee's SiteAdvisor has listed these as legit and safe websites, but make sure you check them out with the Better Business Bureau and state licensing commissions, etc.
