Constipation in 5 Week Old

Is she breastfeeding? Sometimes bf babies don't go every day. My older son was only pooping every 7-10 days until he started on cereal. My doctor said it was perfectly normal. She needs to check with her dr. before giing her baby ANYTHING at such a young age.

My daughter is 7 weeks and I just talked to my pediatrician today about this. He said if she was trying all day to go or show signs of pain when she went that it is fine for her to go up to every 3 days on BMs. He did say that when needed he would recommend pear or prune juice, but I don't know the ratio.

I don't believe the recommend Karo for that young...sugar will provide the same outcome ;)

I used 1 tsp. when my son was little. She should probably call her ped and see what they say. She might need to look into switching formulas. My son had a really hard time on Similac (we thought he had colic - but he was so miserable from being constipated) - we switched him to Good Start and didn't have anymore issues.
