Constipation/Colon Cleansing

Crazy subject line I know! I've been doing a little research on colon cleansing. I have many problems with constipation, even when I take laxatives and the prescribed medication my doctor gave to me to add to my drinks. I've had colonoscopy's and all! No such luck. Am I that abnormal? Or is it more common than I realize? Has anyone tried colon cleansing? I'm thinking that might just make me feel like a new person!

I have one friend who is the most irregular person I have ever met. Her doctors tried her on everything, to no avail. The only thing that did work was a colon cleansing. She felt so much better. She's actually getting ready to get her second one done. Good luck!

I am having the same problems as you but I just did a colon cleansing and it has made me more regular and I feel much better not as blotted as I use to be.

Hi R.. I know this is a late response. I'm pretty sure I have never had the kinds of problems you have... at least to the extent that you have them. I have found that I am more regular when I exercise regularly... walking/jogging. I'm sort of an on again, off again exerciser, but I find when I'm "on" I feel much better in that regard. Forgive me if this seems too simplistic!

R.,

I had the same problem and went to the doctor. She told me to increase my water intake. I now drink atleast 90 ozs of water a day. You might even see yourself losing weight as well. Try it, water is a natural cleanse to the body. From what I have heard most of the colon cleanses those don't work.

You don't need meds to help you, increase your veggie intake as well as your fruits. Back to the basics helps everytime.

I have my box I bought for other reasons. :)

I think it could help you very much, but also you may want to either get your IGG (food sensitivity) test done or try to eliminate gluten or dairy or both. Both my mom in law and my husband were either constipated or the other for as many years as I have been around (20+) and after eliminating gluten (for my mom in law) and gluten and dairy (my husband), both have regulated properly.

The question would be whether it is only a digestive issue or more (yeast or bacterial issues in the gut). After you eliminate a few things for at least a month you should know if only the diet is going to be helpful or if you should go further.

If you try the colon cleanse, know you will be trying it with someone else! I have heard it will cleanse weight that is backed up - yuk. I cannot find the site right now, but there was a web site I found that compared all the cleanses and gave the compile results of opinions. Maybe you can find that.

Good luck, J

Drink coffee and have oatmeal or a high - fiber cereal and add ground flaxseed to your foods and plenty of water! Good Luck!

Hey R., any time I get constipated, I eat plain or vanilla yogurt. It naturally cleans your gut, but don't eat too much or you will be in the bathroom a lot! Try one to two teaspoons in the morning at first. You could probably eat a small container of the fruit flavored yogurt, but the tubs of vanilla are cheaper and you don't have to eat as much. Hope this helps.

HI R.- I am actually on Colonix right now- but my husband read that all they do is put a laxitive in it----but I'm still going to finish the program since I started it...they do have lots of natural ingredients in it- but i think you could spend a lot less at a whole food s store- or even publix has a brand now - a 5 day cleanse and probiotics to take with it.....HOWEVER with that being said...I would follow the advice of most of the others- change your diet- add ground flax or even wheat germ to you cereal (my grandmother use d to do this for us whe we were little) or oatmeal or a drink- it WILL work!! lots of fruit- veggies- and water water water- i don't know why it's so hard for people to drink water during the day - even tho it's not great for the environment- I feel like I drink my water best from water bottles- I take them in the car, on a walk, to excercise to ball games- it really helps me get the recommended amount- I recently heard Jillian on "BIggest Loser" tell one of the contestants - water is the only way to cleanse out your system. LOTS of it I also recetly read take your height in inches (mine is 64) that is how many ounces you need in a day.
Good Luck! ALSO- green tea works wonders!! you can drink it warm- or just buy the bottled green tea!

I am all about the colon cleans so long as it is a safe program. Some of the cleansing programs seem very unhealthy/unsafe to me. Be careful of what you choose.

I have the same constipation issue. I think this is common in women due to a variety of reasons. Mimi brought up the same exact main points I would about the pesticides etc. I also think our hormones play a role, which also goes back to the pesticides and some of the foods we eat because they are/contain xenoestrogens. Changing your diet by going organic can help. I used to think the organic hype was a bunch of crap but I now understand the importance of it.

Cronic constipation is also a sign of parasites. Everyone has parasites in their system at a certain level. Depending on what type of parasite can cause either diahreah or constipation. I know that is not the prettiest thing to know but it is the truth & also why colon cleansing is so important.

I've had the same problem for years! I was told I had IBS w/constipation. Nothing has helped. I've had "stomach episodes" everytime I get really constipated. The last "episode" was so bad I wanted to die, worse than labor pains. My doc put me in the hospital and after 1 week and many many test, including colonoscopy & endoscopy, nothing! The night before they were going to send me home they did a hide a scan and a 2nd CT. The next morning a surgeon came in & said he was going to take out my gall blader, it was chronically inflammed. That explained everything that was happening all these years. The doc said they usually wouldn't suspect gall bladder problems with constipation, it's usually the opposite. The hide a scan can see the gall bladder because they inject dye into you to see how your gall bladder is functioning. All you do is lay there. I would ask your doc about it, they never suspected with me. Also because I am only 28yrs old. It's been 3 weeks since surgery & I feel so much better. I'm just trying to figure out what foods I can eat now. Hope this helps! I know your pain.
