Constipation - Bowie,TX

Fletcher's works great taste like rootbeer and kids take it pretty easily. Its over the counter we find it at walmart. Both of my kids have been using it since they were two (I asked our pedi) they have never complained of a stomach ache or cramps etc..... They took it at night and in the morning all better!
We have also used miralax and some other stuff but m kids tend to like the fletchers better!

Ditto on the Mirilax for a quick fix. If it's a cronic problem like it is in our house, I give my four year old Benefiber and fiber gummies.

Stop milk and dairy for a few days and start the apple juice and Miralax!

My doctor told me to give my son Miralax. I give it to him every day or every other day. It works great!

Miralax. You can buy it at any pharmacy over-the-counter. Use 1/4 of the adult dose (per our pediatrician). It can be mixed into a drink and has no foul taste or odor. When we have had to give it to our daughter we see pretty quick and painless results.

Something that my mom always used with us as kids and that I have used with my kids is Fletcher's Castoria. It's a brown liquid (supposed to taste like root beer ??) and it works wonders. It works quick and efficient :)

Our son has had problems many times since he was born. Miralax has always helped and getting him to drink lots of water. I will forwarn you too that my son's got worse when he started school because he could not go when he need to the bathroom (or he felt he could not) and this caused problems and we finally had to talk to teachers.

We're having the issue with our 20 month old right now. Fiber, fiber, fiber, fiber, fiber. It hasn't helped, though.

Certain foods are particularly high in fiber (such as prunes and pears). You can also get fiber supplements (we've been adding BeneFiber powder to her drinks the past few days).

I called the pediatrician, and they recommended Miralax. I chose not to go that way because of the cost vs. BeneFiber.

I had constipation issues last year when I was going through chemo. They recommended Senna-based products for both laxative and stool softening. They're vegetable based and were a Godsend. I called the pediatrician on that yesterday, and they said it was OK. The pharmacist wasn't sure what dose to recommend, but they did carry a liquid for $17.

Good luck. I'd see if you can get her to eat as many pears, oranges, etc. that have high fiber content and ask your pediatrician what they recommend as a stool softener.

Miralax!!! two of my three use it... one teaspoon for a 3 yr old, if it is really bad, twice a day for 2-3 days will clean her out but be sure to use a pull up just in case if you do the 2 tsp.

Cut out dairy; put her on a probiotic and fish oil--Nordic Natural brand is great.

I went thru this with my toddler,...corn syrup. A dime size into his bottle/cup and believe me youll see the difference. My 7 yr was recently hospitalized due to constipation...Dr immed put him on Maralax...it did not remove the blockage,but allowed seeping to come out "around" the blockage,so please be careful. The dr increased his intake of maralax when the blockage didnt come out...and this went on for weeks,this the pain was so bad my instinct was to take him to ER..thankgod i did,he was so constipated/full it was pushing his diaphram into his lungs...try the cornsyrup,if doesnt work,id seek a drs advice but dont allow it to go on too long,the result can be bad..demand an xray~they can see how contipated he is..it appears as white clouds in the xray..

the best remedie for my baby 1 year old is herbal aloe drink for herbalife is part of the digestive health produts is so wonderful because doesn't hurt his tummy it had help my baby with a lot of things .

Our Pedi recommended pear juice. We just add a little to her water everyday so she stays regular. The sugar in the juice dilates the intestines making it easier to go. Her doctor said to stay away from suppositories because it makes the problem worse later on. I would give your daughter lots of water and pear juice for a few days, and limit banannas and cheese that cause constipation problems. Hope that helps! Seems to take care of any issues my daughter has had.

We have had this problem quite a bit and typically use prune juice to help things going. We have also started our son on a daily fiber gummy regimen (Fleet fiber gummies available at most pharmacies). My husband and I feel this has really helped him become more regular and keep him from getting constipated. We also have used suppositories as a last resort and have the Fleet laxative tablets in our medicine cabinet just in case. I have read of many people giving their kids a daily dose of honey which is suppose to help the digestive tract and others that give their kids a mixture of orange juice and prune juice (just enough to keep them regular) every day.

Easy..lots of water and veggies!!! Carrots, Broccoli, corn all have a lot of fiber...along with Apples, oatmeal, fiber cereals such as fiber one's Honey Oat Clusters..it has like 51% of your daily fiber in one serving and my 7 yr old will eat it! THat alone will keep you regular!

Fiber! And if she will drink it, try Gerber's apple prune juice. Several years ago when I had problems, I kept a lot of those little bottles on hand & it worked for myself! At first I would drink just plain prune juice, but it was so nasty & hard to drink. Then I discovered Gerber had apple prune and it tastes soooo much better!

Give her blueberries. They are wonderful in keeping the digestive track in good working order (sometimes a little too good:-) - pooping 2-3 times a day. It really helps.

I've used miralax but I don't really love it and wouldn't use it long term. Magnesium citrate works well. There is a product called Calm (because magnesium is also calming) that you add warm water to that tastes good. High doses of vitamin C will get things moving as well.

fiber is great, but too much fiber without fluids will "compact" the problem! Drink lots of water.
Does your child like raisins? How about dates?

my toddler suffers from constipation. our pediatrian has us give him Miralax. It works wonders. You put it in his drinks, you can't taste and in short time he's totally unplugged. It doesn't make you go as it's not that type of stuff. This one just softens the stool to make it easier for them to go.

I hope she starts to feeling better soon.
