Consecutive Miscarriages

I am looking for a recomendation for a high risk Dr. in Houston, either downtown or in the Sugarland area. I am just recovering from my 2nd miscarriage in one year and I am feeling like maybe I need to approach it differently. Most things I've read on-line say that the most commen thing to cause this is something is wrong with the fetus to begin with and this is the bodys natural way of dealing with the deformitys that occur at the very beginning. I understand that, but my question is what if its not that. I am looking for a Dr. who will dive in and do some testing on me so I can have the piece of mind that I am doing everything I can to not have to go through this again. I have 2 beautiful children whom I love dearly. We always imagined having more than 2, and our daughter is always talking about a baby sister. If anyone has any advice or amazing doc referral I would really appreciate it.

What can I do next?

Hi - I too am saddend by your losses & can sympathize. I was there 6 years ago & the brilliant doctors @ OGA (near Women's Hospital) helped me tremendously! I can highly reccomend Dr. Joanie Hare @ Houston Perinatal Associates. They are in the same building as OGA @ 7900 Fannin, 77054, ###-###-####. I hope this helps!

Hi A.,

I personally have gone through 6 miscarriages. I've also been able to have one child. I was told by my doctor that I have a low hormone count and one major contributor to me being able to carry my son to term, was the fact that I took a daily vitamin like Centrum for 2 months prior to conception and as soon as I got pregnant I started taking over the counter prenatal vitamins until the doctor prescribed me some at about 8 weeks along when we first heard the heart beat. I would strongly recommend doing this if you've had multiple miscarriages. I wish the best for your family. If you would like to visit my doctor, she's located near Memorial City Mall/Hospital. Her name is Patricia Thayer. She was a godsend with my very high-risk pregnancy.

If you need someone to talk to on a personal level, feel free to give me a call at the number below.

God Bless,
M.

My OBG is Dr. Lisa Schroeder at OGA and Associates.
Their main number is ###-###-####.

I SECOND the recommendation for Dr. Thomas Rowe. He is a high risk perinatologist and moved his practice to Clear Lake. WORTH the drive. Dr. Rowe used to be a nurse so he has the BEST bedside manner...so kind and compassionate. HE also had FIVE children(all boys) of his own.
Good luck!

I have a wonderful Reproductive Endocrinologist named Dr. Vicki Schnell. Her number is ###-###-####. Her main office is Webster but she does have Kirby location, off 59 insude the loop, where she sees patients a few days a week. You may have to go to her Webster office location on occasion but I think she is worth it. She is kind and knowledgable and works hard to help all her patients. I wish you the best of luck.

First, of all, I am so sorry for everything you've been through. I've been there myself, many times, and I know how much it hurts. I saw Dr. Cecilia Valdes at OGA (near Womans' Hospital), upon referral from my regular OB. I liked her, but I have heard mixed things about the practice. MANY people I know have seen Drs. Hickman & McKenzie (I think their practice is called, "Houston IVF"). However, again, I've heard some mixed things. I think you need to take other people's reactions to a practice with a grain of salt. It's difficult with fertility testing and treatment because it can be incredibly tricky (not to mention extremely expensive), and, sometimes, there are no clear-cut answers (like in our case), so, I think, you tend to get mixed reactions. I've heard of another doctor (maybe Dr. Buck?), who has had a lot of luck with people, but I'm not sure of his name...sorry. A good first step might be asking your OB for a recommendation. Good luck, and I'll be saying a prayer for you. p

I am not sure of one in the downtown or Sugarland area, but we have a friend who is a labor and delivery nurse at the clearlake regional hospital who recommends and thinks highly of Dr. Linda Goodrum and Dr. Thomas Rowe. I am pretty sure they are high risk doctors and when I had my 5 month ultrasound I went to Dr. Goodrum and she was great. I don't know if the location would help, but I figured I would let you know. Good luck!
