Based on your experiences moms, did you feel it was as easy or more difficult to conceive with your second? I am not trying yet but curious what could be in store. Any comments or experiences welcome. Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for your input. Much appreciated! I can't help but look around and see all these mommies with their newborns and want one too but all in its right time. I'll keep you posted...

With my first one we were not trying. I tried with the second and when I stoped trying almost a year later I got pregnant. I think I just put to much presure on myself. Good luck.

With baby #1, my husband and I decided to start trying on our honeymoon. We were married June 18th. My son was due March 18th, born March 25th. He is now almost 18 mos and I am about 10 wks pregnant with baby #2. I am still breastfeeding my son. My menses returned when my son was about 12 months. My cycle was irregular for 2 months (really long) then became regular. We started trying in July and got pregnant right away that cycle. I actually wanted to get pregnant around October, but it happened right away. I thought it might take longer because I had a c-section with my son. I should have learned my lesson from the first time around -- I thought it would take a year or so of trying because I was 34 and overweight, but it happened right away. For baby #2 I did start fertility charting right away when my menses returned. It helped me to know exactly when to try. Good luck whenever you decide to try again!

Hi N.,
I found conceiving the second time around just as easy as the first time. It took 3 months of trying for each. My daughters are 2.5 years apart. The first time I just came off the pill and the second time I wasn't on anything. I also used a fertility calendar with my second because I thought I should have gotten pg right away since my system was free of birth control. After 2 months of nothing I use the fertility calendar and was pg within a week. I used the calendar on WebMD.com under pregnancy. If you are irregular or spot a lot talk to your Dr about when you should start tracking your fertility. 3 of my friends got pregnant using this calendar also. Hope this helps.

Oh my goodness I felt it was harder for me. It took me three years without using any contraception at all. But the delivery was a piece of cake. When you start trying, do not put any pressure on yourself. I think that is where I went wrong in the beginning. I was desperate and my husband calmed me down and we had my beautiful son. The more you think about it you will not be sucessful. Just my opinion. Hope this helps best wishes!
