My husband and I would like to have another child and I was wondering if anyone knew exactly which days of the month are the best to conceive? With our first it happened after 2 years, but I don't want to wait that long!! Any ideas?

What can I do next?

Hi! H.,

My husband and I took two years to conceive as well, with our second child. And now we would like to try for another hopefully soon. I am involved with www.babycenter.com and forturnebaby.com. They help you with your ovulation times and cycle. Check them out.

there's a lot of help out there.. www.fertilityfriend.com is a great resource.. you chart your cycle and take your temps everyday and you can figure it out. .usually, with most women on at 28 day cycle, you start your period, 14 days later you ovulate, 14 days later you start your period again. at about day 12 you want to start trying and keep trying once a day (not more because the man can't regenerate enough for twice) for about 3-4 days... if you take your temps, you do it as soon as you wake up, do not move, just open youreyes, reach for your thermometer (basal one) and take your temp and chart it.. right before ovulation, you will see a drop in your temp, then a huge spike then a drop again. if you were successful, your temp will shoot sky high and will stay there... sometimes it's tricky though, it can go high but not high enough! FF.com is great, their chat room is amazing with lots of women you can ask stuff. At least it was like that when I was trying to conceive my son! good luck!!!

If you have regular 28 days periods it is usually 14 days after the first day of your period or another trick and it has worked twice for me is some times when you are ovulating one side of your abdomen really hurts located where the ovary is that is usually the side your egg is realesing. Also you could always get the ovulation predictors those are pretty accurate and easy to use. Good Luck.

H.: I had been trying to conceive for a while and I read everything I could, changed my diet to almost all natural and organic foods, I counted the days and I was desperate and frustrated. Finally I read about the clear blue easy fertility monitor, I bought it and the second time I used it I conceived I was so happy, I am currently 8 months expecting my first child. I loaned it to a friend and the same happened to her she conceived the second time she used it. It is expensive about $200 but it is well worth it. I spent a lot of money in books and pharmacy ovulation test before I made this investment. The cheapest you will find it is at Amazon.com, but you can certainly buy it in a drugstore. Do your research on it and see if is something that can work for you. Good luck!!! And let us know the happy news.

They have free ovulation calendars on line. Go to Yahoo.com and then type in ovulation calendar and it will bring you up a bunch. You type in the first day of your last period and it will tell you when your most fertile times of the month are, some will even tell you when to have sex depending on if you want a boy or a girl. Hope this helps. good luck!!!!

You normally ovulate in the middle of your cycle. If you have a normal monthly cycle, you'll ovulate about 2 weeks after your period. When my husband and I were trying it took about 4 months. I got to know my body really good and could tell when I ovulated. You can tell because you will get a discharge for a day or two that looks like egg whites. You will only get pregnant when you ovulate. Look online for information about ovulation ... you can also buy tests at stores that will tell you when you are ovulating. Good luck!!!

it's funny, becuz i was told that i couldn't have any kids... but then a year later my son was born... even though i've never had a normal period or any period at all, i always counted the 28 days... y, i have no i dea. but when i wanted to try for a baby, i went by when i ovulated which was about 14 days after my period was supposed to come, and it worked somehow. now 3 years later, i'm pregnant with my second, and of course, still no period and there was talk of putting me on hormones becuz i never got a period after my son was born, but i still counted the days, i was still on birth control, and i decided to go off of it, becuz i hated the way it made me feel and they wanted to try more meds. well keeping track, the month after i still counted the days, and on the 14th day which happened to be mothers day :) i conceived again... it's very weird to me how it happened both times, and every woman is different, it made me mad that the docs told me i couldn't have kids or i'd have trouble having them, but i've been lucky so far and they've both been healthy pregnancy's... try counting 14 days from the day you get your period, thats when most women ovulate. sometimes women have trouble concieving after they have one already, and some get pregnant just by their men looking at them :) it all depends on the person.... see when your doc says, either way, it's fun trying right :) good luck :)

Only during your fertile days and then 4 days following See, the book about Your Fertile Cyles or something like that but the author is Merryl Winstien (spelling might be wrong?)

H., hold old is your daughter? Waiting 2-3 years is common. Remember, come high school you will have 2 or more children graduating. It can be a financial strain. Have you tried using a "Basil Thermometer"? It will help predict what time of the month will be better for you. Also, you could try different positions to help you conceive. I had a very difficult time conceiving. My dh and I went for testing and we were both having biological concerns. We then had an opportunity to adopt (b/g twins). They were born in Sept.92, and I conceived in the following Jan. A baby girl was born the day b-4 the twins turned one! Now I have 3 beautiful children all different. The costs for simple things such as: 3 car seats, beds, field trips with school, sports, instruments.... ya, you get the story. I think you might also want to relax a bit. That's what my dr. told me to do. Well, something worked, because like I said, I now have 3. No regrets!!! P.

Hi.
My husband and I were trying for a couple of months with no results so I used an ovulation test. I just got the CVS brand. Follow the directions and test yourself. It worked the first month. We tried concieving the night before and the night after ovulation and now we have a fabulous baby boy. Good luck!

My husband and I are teachers of Natural Family planning. This is NOT the rhythm which assumes all women's bodies are the same. We used the method to conceive 2 children as well as to prevent pregnancy in between. No 2 women are alike. The time from conception to your period rarely changes. It is the time from your first day of menses to ovulation that changes, which is why conception can be difficult. BY observing your body signs (basal body tempurature (not regular temp) and mucus changes you can accurately perdict ovulation. The book "The Art of Natural Family Planning" (Paperback)
by John F. Kippley, Sheila K. Kippley explains the method in detail.
