Computer Use
Hi! My 4 and 5 yr olds are excited & anxious to start getting on the computer; I'd like to be able to guide them to fun sites & at the same time would like them to have an opportunity to experience online educational learning as well. Any recommendations would be great!

A really great educational website for kids. My 3 year old loves it and has been on it since age 2! And it has activities for older kids too.

starfall is great. PBSkids also has great stuff on their website. So does Nickelodeon and Noggin and NASA's website too. My son loved the NASA website. It goes from young kid to much older kids. Happy web surfing.

At that age we got computer games on disk from the library. That way you can try out what they like before buying, the librarian can guide you to age appropriate stuff, and they are not on the internet where weird stuff could pop up. My girls liked various Disney Princess games based on the movies as well as Dora and Diego games, and a Blues Clues game. They are now 9 and 12 and on the computer often (after homework is done) mostly on drawing sites (Chicken Smoothie) as well as Horseland, Bella Sara, American Girl, Disney Fairies, Barbie, Rainbow Magic, Littlest Pet Shop and Club Penguin (Google them for the exact web address). They also watch tv episodes on 4KidsTV. Good luck.

All three of my kids LOVE starfall.com. It is free, and works for all ages. My kids are 2, 4, and 6 - they can all find things they enjoy on there. It is educational as well! Perfect :). My daughter also loves PBSkids, NickJR, Disney, and she will ask us to use Google to find other games, like cooking and music ones. We sit with her then, but she LOVES them :).
