College Courses

I went to University of Phoenix for a year and loved it. I switched to Kaplan University after that year and Kaplan is even better the Phoenix. Kaplan is also much cheaper. My husband is attending Capella University and he enjoys it so far. There are MANY options, just do your research to figure out which is best for you :)

I recently graduated with my AA from College of Central FL (Formerly Central Florida Community College), I found them to be MUCH less expensive. All of the classes that I needed were available online. Congrats and good luck :)

I went to the University of Pheonix, and loved it.... very flexible and it's a great school.

lots of community colleges do AA's online - I go to lonestar.edu in texas, and you can go there even if you are out of state. it is not really at your own pace as such, though you can access the courses at any time of the day or night, you still have to do exams at specific times.
also CCConline is another good online community college, it is $250 per credit hour no matter where you live.
I would bet there are similar things in florida, check out your own community college before you check anywhere else as tuition will be much cheaper, and you know its reputable.

I am currently in school, and LOVE TESC. they are accredited, an adult learners only school and have excellent professors. If you are in NJ, they also offer reduced rate tuition as an in-state resident.

I go to Columbia Southern University which is way cheaper than Kaplan and University of Phoenix. CSU pays and ships the books to you - it's all included in the tuition rates. I am currently getting my BSBA which is approved by the VA so I can get my GI Bill payments. VA has to approve the college before they will start sending payments, so the college has to be registered. CSU is the #5 college that active duty military members choose for higher education. My husband (who is active duty) actually got me turned on to them for my education. They took all of his AF training and they took all of my AF training. I had a coworker who is a Tulane graduate and accidently blurted that going to an online college is a fake college. That makes me so mad because I worked so hard in the AF for all my training and our local community college won't take any of those credits! I spent 9 hours per day in class for 12 months just for my two career fields and SSgt rank! That doesn't include time spent studying. Just because I didn't spend time in an actual dorm room on a college campus doesn't mean my training is any less than hers. Sorry about my rant, I just don't want you to be discouraged on going to an online school. People will make it sound like you aren't doing anything and that it's a bunch of bunk, but that is far from true. I am currently taking International Economies and Trade and Financial Institutions. They are challenging courses.

I have two classes (this is considered full time student). Taking one course is 8 weeks long, includes doing an assessment test each week and two discussion board posts mandatory for grading. The credits are transferable to their partners. Just because someone goes to a community college or university DOES not mean they are all transferable to where ever, it depends if the other college is willing to take them.

I'd look into local programs before big national programs.

When I was laid off last year and looked into classes to change my expertise, even the local community college had online-only courses that were short but intense in design.

Since you're seeking an AA, I'd look into local programs first and then expand to nationally accredited programs. Even with a BS from a prestigious Biology program in the Big 10, it wasn't well recognized in my home town (DC area) and made getting a job quite difficult after graduation. Once I moved back to the area I'd received it, doors were much more open.

I am going to the University of Phoenix right now...I got my AA in Elementary Education through them and now working on my BA in Health Admin/Long Term Care. I could not be more happier with them. I have four kids 13, 12, 2 (3 in OCT) and an 19 month old....I am able to juggle them, being a wife, and finding time for me all while going to school there. Because it truly is on your terms-when you get your work completed. There are discussion question throughout the week and a main assignment due at the end of the week. I am really happy with them...Good Luck!!!

Try Keiser Unversity. Do your homework before you sign up...but I know that they offer online and night classes in business. Other then that try a community college; it may take you a little longer to finish but, they should be able to work with you. HANG IN THERE and good luck.

I'll have to ditto the advice. Check with your state's community colleges.
You are less likely to fall for a diploma mill that gives you a worthless piece of paper at an exorbitant price AND you courses will likely be transferable to a University, should that option ever open up for you.
You will also have access to all their services (including a physical library and tutoring if you need to) and all at a more affordable price than a private online school.
I am a huge advocate for community colleges. The ones here in Seattle offer so many online and non-traditional classes, while they don't advertise online degrees, I am certain that you could take all required classes online if you wanted to (at least for a business AA).
See an adviser at your local CC for an academic plan!
