Sometimes colic is a symptom of a cows milk allergy. Below are some links and snippets of the information. You can always eliminate cows milk from your diet for 2-3 weeks (assuming you are breast feeding) and/or use a non-milk based formula for a short while, and see if that helps.

1.) http://www.healthsystem.virginia.edu/uvahealth/adult_pedi...
Milk and soy allergy:
Allergies to milk and soy are usually seen in infants and young children. Often, these symptoms are unlike the symptoms of other allergies, but, rather, may include the following:

colic (fussy baby)
blood in your child's stool
poor growth
Often, your child's physician will change your baby's formula to a soy formula or breast milk if it is thought he/she is allergic to milk. If your child has problems with soy formula, your child's physician might change him/her to an easily digested hypoallergenic formula.

The symptoms of a milk or soy allergy may resemble other problems or medical conditions. Always consult your child's physician for a diagnosis.

The milk allergy

One of the most common allergies in babies and toddlers is the milk protein allergy. Fortunately, this allergy doesn't have to be a problem for a nursing child. Like most environment-specific allergies, the antigen can be avoided - eliminating the cause for reaction. With patience and careful attentiveness, breastfeeding can continue without problems - and breastmilk can be the best fluid a child with the allergy can get.

Milk protein allergy is not the same as lactose intolerance, which is not common in young children. Because a baby's stomach lining is more immature than an adult's, the incompatibility of cow's milk protein with the lining of the gut can precipitate an allergic reaction. Breastmilk is the most complete food. Unlike cow's milk, it is easily broken down by the baby's stomach and digested rapidly. Human milk is perfect for human babies.

Unfortunately, a mother's intake of cow's milk might cause symptoms in baby if the protein is being passed through the breastmilk. In this case, the mother may need to eliminate dairy products from her diet to see if symptoms clear up

3.) http://breastfeeding.about.com/od/babyhealthissues/a/milk...
Unfortunately for breastfeeding moms with dairy-based diets, cow's milk is the most common allergen affecting infants.

4.) http://kidshealth.org/parent/medical/allergies/milk_aller...
Almost all infants are fussy at times. But some are excessively fussy because they have an allergy to the protein in cow's milk, which is the basis for most commercial baby formulas. A person of any age can have a milk allergy, but it's more common among infants (about 2% to 3% of babies), though most outgrow it.

If you think that your child has a milk allergy, talk with your doctor about testing and alternatives to milk-based formulas and dairy products.

I've done all these things. Colic drops, mylacon, Zantac and many more, but nothing worked for me. My baby got relief from colic after taking baby magic tea.

I agree "Gripe Water" rocks.
I would also look for someone who could show you how to do infant massage. If you find someone who has experience w/ infant massage, you should only have to go to 1 session and they will show you how to preform this therapy at home. I wish I had know about it for my own daughter 30+ years ago, but I did know about it for my grandson and after the 1st session he contently slept all night and when his tummy would bother him after that a few minutes of massage he was happy sleeping boy.
Good luck and God Bless,

I did not go through colic with my 3 kids. Thank God. However our pediatrician said for the first 4 months keep all of their crying to a minimum. He told us when a child cried it meant he/she is crying
5. dirty diaper
4. he's hot/cold
3. he wants to suck (pacifier or bottle)
2. wants to be held
1. hungry (even if it's not feeding time)

We followed this and never had colic issues.

I also found it helpful to take an acidophilus supplement while I nursed. It helps to put all of the good bacteria in the digestive tract so it can function properly. That helped tremendously -- not just for the baby, but me too.

I used a supplement available from a catalog company I've been shopping with for years. They specialize in a lot of different grocery store type products and supplements that are all eco-friendly, more natural and priced like WalMart.

There's a product called deewees (dee wees). Its excellent. It like paragart (mispelled?) but isn't. We started using this 13 yrs ago when my nephews baby had colic. I highly recommend it. You can usually find it at a family owned pharmacy, but if you're interested & can't find it, email me & I will give you the name & number of the pharmacy I got it from & they will even mail it to you.
Good Luck!!
