Hi L.

Lay him on your lap, tummy side down and rub his back. When you want him to sleep, play a lulaby tape, relaxation tape or just a "white noise" like a fan.

Hi L.-

Looks like you have gotten lots of great advice. I was thinking along the lines of Swaddling, rocking and shushing that you can read about in Happiest Baby on the Block. The nurses at the hospital do it for a reason too. Your little guy was very happy and content all warm and cozy while you were pregnant with him. So try to mimic that environment. We did it with our daughter for a couple months. I would also definitely check with your doc to make sure it is not reflux. Just to be sure.

Hi L.. I bought this stuff called Colic Calm on-line. It is gripe water with all natural ingredients including peppermint. I've been told by my mother and my mother-in-law who were told by their mothers that peppermint is excellent in relieving an upset stomach. I eat peppermint Altoids when my stomach is upset, and they help!! Anyway...go to www.coliccalm.com and read up on this liquid formula. I thought it worked really well for my son. I even bought two bottles of it. I remember it being a little expensive like around 30 dollars, but it was totally worth it. I purchased the NumiMed dispenser which is like a pacifier. The pacifier measures out the correct dose. It even tastes good...I tried it! FYI: It does turn their tongues purple. Hope this helps!

Two thoughts. Watch the video "Happiest Baby on the Block". Cured our son's colic in 10 minutes for good.

2nd thought. We later found out, due to serious health problems, our son's colic was caused by reflux. Worth checking out before the problems start. Dr. Kraviec at National Jewish has been TERRIFIC! We love her!

Good luck. We know how tough it is.

gripe water, the shower (standing in the bathroom while it runs), rubbing his belly in circles, rocking him in different ways (ie- mine ONLY settled down if you rocked him while you stood up with a slow song cd playing- all 4 one actually ha ha- doc said it was something about the position you are in then), the swing was our best friend. Good luck!

My son had colic-type stuff too... it's sooo hard! I wore him around in a sling a lot (still do) so that he could be upright and have his tummy to mine. That made such a huge difference. You can also use mylicon drops, which help a lot. Rub his tummy from the bottom right by his hip to up under his rib cage, down to around to the left. This will help relieve gas. Infant massage is really good for this too. Try to minimize his crying too, as this makes everything worse. Also, you can lay him back-side up on your chest and gently pump his legs to release gas. You can cycle his legs too. Good luck!

I use Gripe Water. It works wonders. My mom used it on me when I was a baby. You can find it at Frys.
