Clothing Steamers

My husband wants to get one of those clothing steamers, like the ones that you fill with water and it produces lots of steam that you use to get the wrinkles out of clothing/fabric. Does anyone have any experience with one? I would like a good one, but it doesn't have to be amazing, just get the job done. What are your recommendations? Do they really work? Are they a lot faster than ironing and do they do a good job?
Thanks!

My Husband also got me one. I wish he would have asked first if I even wanted one. I have used it and it doesn't do as good of a job as the iron. If I had the one like the cleaners; it would be wonderful but I haven't seen one like that on the market. I have a TOBI. Good luck if this is what YOU really want. N. P.

I have had amazing luck with Downy wrinkle release spray if you don't want to spend the money on a steamer.

We have one and love it. I think ours is just a Conair from Kohls. We just keep it up and ready in the corner of our bedroom, just takes a minute to warm up. It's not *as* great as an iron, but it gets the job done and is so much more convienent! The one we have came w/ an attachment to make creases and I love that, too!

I work for a clothing company and use a steamer all the time in my showroom and take it to tradeshows, etc. They are great and quick and work wonders but don't throw out your iron as you may need it on occasion for those tuff wrinkles and pants are horrible to do because you need to go inside of the pant legs and steam and can easily get burned. You also need to steam shirts from the inside out but don't get burned if you are careful. They really have their pluses for quickness. I hope this helps.

I love our clothes steamer. We've had it for probably close to 8 years. We rarely break out the iron and ironing board. What I like best about it is that it heats up really quick and is ready to go. Much faster than an iron. Which is nice in the mornings when you wake up and realize you didn't steam/iron your work clothes. Plus you don't have to worry about what heat setting you have it on etc. One thing to remember in AZ too is how long clothes really stay wrinkle free. So while it may not always get out the wrinkles like an iron would you have to think about how wrinkled your clothes get the first time you sit down. All in all I love it and it's one of the best things we've bought. It's also nice for items that are hard to iron because of their size or design (i.e. children's clothes, drapes etc.). It also has other uses and can sometimes be an alternative to dry cleaning items or it works really good for getting up furniture marks in carpet like when a sofa’s legs leave the carpet all smashed. It actually has a special attachment for it. I love it for drapes and curtains. I think we paid around $100 for our and it came with a travel steamer that we also use a lot. It's a Conair clothes steamer and it's held up great. The closest thing they have to it now is the deluxe fabric steamer (www.conair.com) but they have other models now too. I would look at Bed Bath and Beyond so that you can use a coupon. They tend to be priced the same most places so you might as well take advantage of their 20% off. Plus if you don't like it, they're easy about returns.

Well, I want to get one too! My mom, my sister and my husband have all LOVED the Tobi steamer, dh used it before getting ready for my class reunion and it was fantastic (we were at Mom's, he borrowed hers)! We will be getting one soon, much easier than hauling out the ironing board and iron! I won't get rid of my great Rowenta iron, but will only use it when necessary, using the Tobi most often!! BTW my mom and sister got the best deal at Tuesday Morning, if they have any left, it was a steal!
