Clothing Donation Questions

I have a few questions about area clothing donation facilities. In the end, there will be men's, women's, maternity and boys' clothes (newborn to 3T).

1. What are your favorite charities that accept used clothing for donation?
2. Where are they located and/or do they provide home pick up?
3. Are stained clothes accepted for other uses? I know that no one will be able to use them for the intended purpose but I just hate to throw them in the trash. Does anyone take them for dyeing or cleaning rags or something??

Any and all suggestions are welcomed! Thanks Ladies!

Hi J.! You can also donate to Loving Expressions, it is a non-profit that supports foster kids from newborn to 18. They take everything!!!! And you will get a tax receipt and you know sometimes these kids do not come with anything but what is on their backs.

Genesis Women's Shelter has a great thrift store in Dallas, but they only pick up large items.

I think Austin Street Centre in Dallas will pick up any item -

They might even take some stained clotes, because they might use them as work clothes for those that live at the centre.

I know that the Arc of Texas picks up donations-- and they do take all types of clothing. www.thearcoftexas.org
You can also try women's shelters... I wouldn't bring it to Goodwill, however, b/c they are overloaded with donations and have been for the past couple of years!

Dallas Life Foundation--downtown Dallas--will take anything and will give you a receipt for what you give (you write in the dollar amount)

My favorite charities are CCA and the Pregnancy Advocacy Center. Both are so very happy to get donated items. I brought maternity clothes, baby clothes and toys to the PAC and they were so grateful.

CCA does have a truck which can be scheduled for pick-up, but I'm not sure PAC does, they have an office in Lewisville.

If there are nicer things with small stains for adult clothes, you may try a local community theatre looking for some things for upcoming shows.

I just heard about www.zwaggle.com from flylady.net. A trading place for gently used things..may be something for you.

Also, your local animal shelters take old towels and blankets if you have any of those.
