Clothes from Target Do Not Fit -Is It Only Me?

Whatever clothing item I tried from Target, it does not look good on me. Is it just me? What is the problem?

We have a Target store close by, and I would love to be able to pick out a few items whenever I can, but they just do not fit me well.

I am 5'4'' and a size 6. I have a smallish bulging belly that I am trying to get rid of, but it is not that bad; I can still fit in size 6 (or juniors 7) clothes. I guess I am on the shorter side, I am not sure if that is the problem? The tops from Target just look weird when I try them on. Maybe it is the type of clothing they use, or they are more for taller women, I just cannot figure out what the problem is.

I thought I had a problem only with their tops but I purchased a pair of PJ bottoms last week without trying them on. Then I came home and tried it on. It just looks ridiculous on me! I need to return it. I am at a lost! It is just a regular PJ bottom and I never had any problems with simple items I bought from Walmart, Kohls, JCPenney and the like. What is it with Target clothes that do not fit me???

EDITED: I am a women's size 6. I fit well into size "6Short" jeans, and size "Small" tops from Kohls and JCPenney. I rarely ever shop from juniors department. Sorry for the misleading post above, I edited it ;-)

What can I do next?

I have noticed that when Target went to using all big name designers, things are cut a little differantly. Shirts seem shorter. Pants are tighter in the thigh. I have noticed. I don't really like much of thier clothes anymore. Sad, I used to get really nice slacks and things I coudl wear to work. They were a bit nicer than other dicount stores. Now, the looks on the poster are very nice, but the clothes dont look the same on me.

Lots of people can't buy clothes from a particular store! I never find anything at Target either. If you can't get anywhere else--shop online!

What I have learned, being an unusually sized woman, is that it is NOTHING to do with you.

Clothes merchants are businesses, businesses are out to make money, therefore the cater to a certain range of styles, sizes, and prices. It has NOTHING to do with you as a person... it just has to do with the percentage of people who have bodies that are identical to you.

I'm 6'1. I need an extra 4-6 inches of length on shirts than most people (maternity shirts are AWESOME... the ones that just add length). I have a 37" inseam. People look at me and say they "Wish blah blah blah". Really? Try on a dress. Is the bulgy area for the boobs over your sternum with your breasts skooshed into the area meant for the ribcage? The wide area for the hips over your waist making you look pregnant? The narrow area for the legs over your hips? ((I call 'off the rack dress shopping' the "lasagna noodle effect... curves are in all the wrong places)). EVER see a pair of pants in the women's department with a 36 or 38 inch inseam? My best friend is FIVE two. She has the opposite problem in things being sized for "the majority". If she shops outside of the petit department she gets the lasagna noodle effect as well!!

I can shop maternity and I can shop in the boy's department in the US... otherwise ALL my clothes come from the EU (mostly the UK and Italy). Purely because those are the only places that I can buy clothes sized for 6 foot tall (Scandinavia, yay) women. If I was "shrunk" down to 5'1 instead of 6'1 my proportions when I was thin would have had me at a 0. Instead I was a 9/10. At my middling weight I'd be 6/8 but instead I'm a 16/18.

There are SOME stores here in the US that have tall sizes... but they come out looking "weird" on me (SOOOOOOO weird). So I shop at stores that have clothes that look good on me. It has nothing to do with ME... it has to do with their stock.

If you have half a dozen options aside from Target, shop there :)

I'm 5'9" and a size 8 or 10 and the only clothing that I have ever been able to wear from Target are their swimsuits. I could never wear their maternity pants ( or reg. Pants for that matter) because they're too short. Shirts run too small and I can't wear them.

Nope you are not alone. I have tried stuff there and while it is affordable, the shapes are off. I do better at JC Penneys for affordable work clothes and even casual stuff. I also like Lands End clothes that I can return to Sears if they do not fit right and save shipping costs. Kohl's has quite a few nice lines as well. I am 5'7" and a size 10. Kohl's also have those 15-30% discount coupons they send me all the time since I signed up for the Kohl's card, and they have their Kohl's dollars (or some such name) where I was able to get a whole stack of new towels for free just on money-back I got from my husband's summer shorts-and-tees buying spree.

I totally agree. Every bra, shirt, pair of shoes run small and I have little feet! Kohls is my favorite place to shop. Sometimes a lil more exspensive but worth it!

No, not the only one. Target clothes annoy me. Even my SON'S shirts don't fit him "the same".
