Clomid Question

I took clomid to help get preg. with my daughter who is almost 10. I do have PCOS and was very sensitive to the clomid. I don't remember any side effects other then my overies swelling. I think this was due to the PCOS but I was told that my body was very sensitive to the drug. I was able to get preg. with my daughter after about 4 months and them decreasing the dose each time. Just listen to your body while you are taking them. It is a wonderful drug if you are having problems getting preg. Good luck!!!

I have a thyroid condition that was messing up my ovulation when I was trying to get pregnant, so my doctor suggested we try Clomid. I was wary of it at first too, given the reports of possible side effects. The only side effect I can remember was the night sweats - I woke in the middle of the night burning up and kicking the covers off. That's it. No psychotic breaks, my husband was happy to discover! I don't even remember being "pre-menstral." I got pregnant the first time around (I had not had trouble getting trouble before this thyroid issue either). I definitely think it's worth a try. It's a cheap first step in terms of fertility treatments, low incidence of multiple births, etc. Good luck!

We did 6 months of IUI (intrauterine insemination) along with Clomid 50mg, without success. However, it turns out that was a whole different issue. With Clomid, I had severe nightsweats and headaches along with ovarian tenderness. In fact, at times, I thought my uterus was going to fall out it felt so heavy. This was from all of the "hyper" stimualtion that the drug does, producing extra eggs. My emotional roller coaster may have had something to do with the medication, but I think it was just from the stress of unsuccessful conception- as it was going on our 3rd year. (we did end up conceiving- but not with Clomid. Again- long story) Overall though, its worth the side effects. Just keep your reasons for taking the medication up front. Good luck!

I took Clomid to concieve my son who is now 9 months old. I had concieved twins naturally in 2004 and after I delivered them, it was taking us long to concieve and the result was that because I was not ovulating. I took one round of Clomid at 50mg and still did not ovulate. On my second round, I was on 100mg and concieved my son.
Clomid is tricky, for some, it is a God send and you concieve quickly, some I have known had no luck. With your history, I truly believe that you would not have an problem and could probably concieve in a few short rounds.
Side effects? I have two common phrases I like to use.. "Hormonal Hell" and "Emotional Hysteria".. I hated to use Clomid. I got headaches, emotional, very very touchy and sensitive. Now, I know you can totally do it without the side effects, but some have severe side effects. Keep in mind, these side effects only lasted for me from the time I began the medication until 2 days after I had the last pill, so I only had these effects for 7 days.
After the Clomid and now after I have my baby boy.. I would totally do it again and more if I had too. Totally worth it.

My one and only experience w/this was w/my third child...my body just needed a boost as it was not producing enough estrogen. I had no side effects from taking it(that I knew about!) and I only had to take two rounds/doses of it! It happened very quickly for us, so Best of Luck. My Dr. was very informative and helpful during this time. I think the first dosage was 50 mg. then the 2nd month I believe it was upped to 2 pills or something like that, can't quite remember but whatever it was, it worked! AGain, BEst Wishes.

I did not react that way to Clomid. Once we found the correct dosage for me to ovulate at, it took us 4-5 months to conceive.

I took clomid for three cycles before becoming pregnant because I was not ovulating. They had to up the dosage the second time because it was not strong enough the first round. My husband said I was moody, but I felt fine the whole time (even took a trip to NYC.) I had no issues and would use it again. My doctor did inform me that most people will conceive within the first 3 months of taking it so I was on the last cycle when we got pregnant.
