Clicking Pregnant Belly

I hope I'm not going nuts...About a month ago when I was 8 months pregnant, I heard a faint clicking sound coming from my belly twice in the same day when he was moving. I let it go thinking it was my front closing bra snap. THEN just this Sunday I heard it again and had no hardware on that could have made the same noise. Now today, I've heard it twice. I know this sound is coming from my belly. It only happens when my now-full-term baby is active but not every time. Have you heard of this?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

I'm seeing 2 different midwives at my practice and neither one has heard of this but offered that the baby could be hitting some cartilage in my ribs when he moves. This definitely isn't the hiccups, I have identified those and that sound comes from much deeper. I can also feel the hiccups where I feel nothing when I hear the click. At any rate, my caregivers are not concerned. Thanks to everyone who responded:)

Congrats!! I used to hear that all the time when I was prego with my daughter. I thought I was going crazy too. Then when I went 2 my doc for an ultrasound it started happening and come to find out it was the baby having the hiccups!! Just like you said it was happening multiple times a day! Good luck!!

I heard the same noise with my son and my dr thought I was crazy. We joke about how cramped he was- his knees would pop when he streched out. The doctors thought he was in the 7lb range and he was 9lb 7 oz when he was born...He's 2 now and we haven't noticed and clicking since he's able to strech out- but he has always HATED having his feet confined in sleepers, etc. :)

Your child is most probably snapping its fingers. It's a common early sign of coolness. Do either you or your husband like Jazz?

I had the a clicking sound too (only with one out of my four pregnancies) all this time I thought I was the only one it had ever happened to. My Dr. also thought I was weird for asking. My pregnancy went just fine. Anyhow my click sounded like when you snap two finger nails against each other. Odd but appearantly not unheard of... Thanks for posting.

Okay, I think I have the answer. This happened to me with my second pregnancy...weird, strange, odd. Anyway when my daughter was born the dr said there was something going on with her hips and as he "butterflied" them they clicked and clicked. I forgot what it is called but we had to put two diapers on her to create some extra space in between her legs and help the problem. after 2 months it corrected itself. I had forgotten all about this until I read your request. Don't worry, and good luck to you ; ) c a

Congrats! I too enjoyed my pregnancy and now my 15 year old son. I too had some strange noises while pregnant and it would be along with a very faint movement. My doctor explained that my son had the "Hiccups". After checking with my Dr., I would notice and pay more attention to them and you could tell that's exactly what they were. It was kinda of funny and cute. Maybe your sounds could be something as normal. Best wishes.
