I'm thinking about starting the Isagenix 9 day cleanse. I've heard both that it's safe and that is not. Is there anyone here who has an educated answer to this question? I would really appreciate it. thanks.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you so very much for your great answers. I really appreciate everyone taken the time to give me such complete information on why it is not advisable to do the cleanse while brestfeeding. I am NOT doing the cleanse. I'm in no rush. I just wanted to get all the facts about it. I have a thriving, healthy, happy baby boy and his wellbeing is the most important thing in the world to me.

As a side note, a number of my friends have done and are doing Isagenix and it is a great cleansing program. I look forward to doing it my self when the time is right.

I have been with Isagenix for almost 2yrs. you can NOT do the cleanse part of the system if you are breast feeding! You can do the rest of the products they are great. I usually only get my breast feeders started with the nutrition part of the program. You will love these products!

Hey A.-
I'd love to know what you find out about the cleanse. I could really use a jumpstart on the weightloss. I'm also breastfeeding.

Don't do it. Toxins come out in your breast milk even when you aren't trying to cleanse. When you cleanse, toxins leave through your lungs, skin fluids and digestive system. In this scenario, milk counts as a fluid that comes through your skin. Just wait until you are finished with the breast feeding. I've got a five year old and a two year old, both of whom where breast fed for nearly two years and I'm also a holistic health practitioner. Don't worry - before you can blink twice your body will be yours again.

What's the rush. Your baby will be off the breast before you know it. You and your baby need the calories right now so don't do the cleanse. It will only decrease your breast milk. Eat more raw fruits and veggies. Raw foods help you cleanse in a way that it will not effect your milk or your baby.

Good Luck and hang in there.

A.,
I wouldn't do a cleanse if you are breast feeding. Most cleanses involve liver detox. The supplements used are meant to mobilize toxins from fat and make them water soluble to be excreted. That only happens by toxins entering your blood stream first to then be eliminated. What goes in your blood stream goes into your milk. Wait until you are done breast feeding. You could take enzymes to aid in digestion, drink lemon water daily and take probiotics and psyllium to keep your GI system running smoothly. That would be safe. I am still breast feeding a 6 month old too and would love to do a cleanse - but I am waiting. (I used to work for a nutritional supplement company called Biotics and used and sold their cleanse regularly) So please trust me on this one.
Congrats for getting the breast feeding in still. So good for your baby! :-) You can detox later.

Before you start any diet or restrictive calories, keep in mind that if you have less calories, you'll have less milk supply. Also, Everything that goes into your blood stream, goes into your milk supply. It would be better to pump ahead and freeze enough milk before you started. Then, nurse a lot afterward to get your supply back up. You may even need to "pump and dump" during to keep your supply up.
