What do you use on your laminate floors to make them shiny? I use the Swifer wet pads but it makes them shiny until they dry and then it looks dingy again.
Thanks

What can I do next?

Bruce laminate floor cleaner @ Home Depot or Lowes. The main thing I find is to clean the floor with just enough for the small area I am doing at one time and to clean the floor in the direction of the woodgrain. One bottle of the floor cleaner lasts me 6 months!

T., I've been cleaning houses for years. Swiffer wet or the Swiffer spray mop solution leaves a film on floors and yes, they will look dull when they dry. The film also attracts dirt when the floors are dry.

I use a microfiber mob and Pine Sol on all the laminate floors I clean and they always look great when I'm done. You can also use white vinegar and hot water if you'd prefer a more natural product. You can use Windex and a microfiber mops for a quick dusting, but I choose to use Pine Sol or vinegar when mopping kitchens and bathrooms as Windex does not have any antibacterial qualities. Cotton fiber mops also work well, just be sure you get one that you can twist and wring out or your floors will be really wet and will have to be dried with a second mop.

There are companies that make special spray cleaners for laminate floors, you can go that route if you want, but it's just a more expensive way to do the same thing you can do with natural or fairly inexpensive cleaners off the shelf.

Happy mopping!

I like to use Bruce or Bona hardwood floor cleaners (you can use on laminate too)They sell kits that include a microfiber cloth. I feel those have worked the best with leaving the floor looking shiny and not dull. DO NOT use Orangle glo, that stuff will leave your floors looking dull and cloudy.

I've used pledge on mine. It's sure makes them shiny, but very slippery. I usually just use water and a mop. It doesn't make them shine, but it doesn't make them dingy either.

I'd recommend visiting the website of the manufacturer (for instance, Mannington made the laminate floors in our house) and see what they recommend.
Here's what they have on their website regarding cleaning and maintenance (For example):
http://www.mannington.com/Residential/Laminate/Care%20and...

We have really hard water in Indiana, so no matter how much we soften it, what cleaner we use, and how often we do it, our floors look awful.

That's why I recommend contacting the manufacturer as they'll also be able to steer you away from things that may damage the floor.

I use windex or that new swiffer dusting spray. Both work great using my dust mop. Good luck...:)

Hello, I also use the swiffer dry and wet mop. I'm not noticing too much of a problem in the kitchen and laundry room. However, after my daughter and grandaughter move out and take the dog, I want to install laminates through the living room, dining room and family room. I might have a problem then. I am going to see what other people tell you to do.
Good luck.

I have my cleaning lady use Pine Sol with Bleach mixed in, in hot water, using a good old-fashioned cotton mop. Mostly I do this because I like the smell of Pine Sol and Bleach (and I know it's really, really clean), but our floors have a nice shine. Not the sort of shine you can see yourself in, but they do not look dingy or dull at all.

Only use manufacturer recommended products to clean your laminate floors. If you use other products you could void your warranty. Visit my website for tips on cleaning your floors www.elliottfloorcovering.com, my company specializes in hardwood and laminate flooring.
