Cleaning Bath Toys - Dayton,OH

Does anyone know of a good, easy way to clean the kind of bathtub toys with the squeaky hole in the bottom? My daughter has a ton of them, and they always seem to retain water, no matter how much I try to get it out. Now, they're starting to mold, so I'm just about ready to toss them all out unless someone has a good idea for me!

What can I do next?

We had this problem even with the kind of duckie that doesn't have a hole, because the "hot" marker seal loosened just enough to let water in. Just suck up bleach water inside the toys and let them sit for awhile, then rinse them by sucking clean water in and out. It may be a pain, but so is having to buy new toys all the time, plus that adds up!

Toss them. You can get them really cheap from all over. The mold can make her sick. SO tossing them out and getting new ones is easier.

Looks like I'm a little late to respond to this one, because I did what the majority of these women did, I chucked them. I squeezed one of Tanner's bath toys and black funk came out of it into his water and I had to take him out of his bath, run fresh water etc. It's just a pain in the butt, I even took extra care to squeeze all the toys out after his baths, but you can never get them completely emptied out. I now only buy the bath toys that don't have holes in them and if he still has any that do, I'm always keeping an eye on them to be sure that they don't have any black in them. The lady that used the hot glue gun to plug the hole, that is an ingenius idea, great job!

I take my hot glue gun and plug the hole so they can't get water in them. Then not only do they not squirt water out of the tub, the toys don't mold.

Oh yes - why do they make those toys:) We have tons of them. I only let them play with a few at a time for a few weeks and then I throw them away and then put new ones in the tub. We are always in constant supply with Birthdays and holidays.

I guess if you really wanted to save them, I would try to use those little infant syringe medicine droppers and try to stick the tip in the hole and squirt in antibacterial dish soap or something like that.

The other thing to do is sqeeze the toy flat and then release it in a bowl of soapy water so it sucks it up. Then shake it around and squeeze it out.

You still might have to throw it away though if the black stuff doesn't come out. That's just too much work for me though, so I just throw them away:)

I usually try squeezing hot bleach water in them and swishing it around. If that doesn't get rid of the mold I just toss them. I don't want ot make myself crazy over something that can be replaced for less than a dollar. Good Luck.

Let them soak in 1 part bleach to 10 parts water. Try to squeeze them so that they suck the bleach water inside.

I get mine at Dollar General for this exact reason! TOSS 'EM ;) Nothin ever works for me...
