I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter and like evereyone else we have had bath toys in a bath bag hanging in our shower. Well 2 years of hanging there and everyday play and showering, they have gotten some soap build up on them. Most of them have little cracks and crevises that are really hard to clen. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how to clean them other than washing them all by hand with a brush and cleaner? I have about given up and am about to just throw them all away.

What can I do next?

If you're going to throw them away anyway, run them through the dishwasher... none of them will completely melt, they just might not be quite the same. If anything doesn't survive, throw it away and keep the rest. Plus, then you'll know the one's that make it are dishwasher safe! :)

You may want to also try Clorox hard surface spray it is safe to use on childrens toys. I use Clorox quite a bit and I really like it.

Absolutely, get a 5 gallon bucket and some powdered foaming oxyclean. Fill it with hot water and a lot of the oxyclean and let it sit there and bubble the dirt away.

We always use the dishwasher. Matter of fact, about once a month, all the bath toys go through. I turn of the heat dry function, but otherwise, like the idea of them being properly cleaned. If they don't survive the dishwasher, I just pitch them, but only have had one or two items.

I'm not sure about the soap build-up but what about tossing them in the dishwasher? I'd take it off the dry setting and let them air dry. Another idea, more to sanatize them would be to dilute bleach with water in a spray bottle and once you are done using them lay them out and spray them with the bleach water then let them air dry. (We used this method daily at the pre-school I worked at).
