I've never known anyone who does this. We have different water and detergents than my mother had when I was a baby. No one does anything more than simply wash the bottles now. They don't need to be sterilized.

Soap works.

Do you have a dishwasher? If you do, just wash them in there. It will sterilize the bottles. Munchkin (and I'm sure other brands) makes a basket you can put the nipples and other pieces into and set inside the dishwasher so they get sterilized as well.

I am a dietitian and work in health care. You don't need to sterilize the bottles. Just wash them in hot water with dish soap, rinse well and let them air dry. Don't make more work for yourself than is necessary. :-)

They have found it's not necessary to boil bottles to sterilize anymore. Go ahead and just wash them.
