I am looking for an easy going, contemporary church to join in the Nixa/Springfied area. We just moved here and have not really been church goers in the past. I would like to volunteer for different activities through church and meet new people.

What can I do next?

Hi K., welcome to Springfield! We go to Second Baptist Church on Battlefield, just west of 65. May be a bit farther than you preferred, but we have a great new contemporary service at 11:00 (traditional services at 8:00 and 9:30.) It is a very large church with many activities and outreaches. The services are great, each for it's own audience. "Second Eleven" (name for the contemporary service) has a band of 6 younger members and they are awesome!!!

Sunday school classes are grouped by ages and marital status for better compatibility, and each class does individual activities so you can get to know each other better. I really think you'd like it. Any questions, get back to me!

Hi K.-
We go to a terrific church called Lake Hills Church. It is currently located between Springfield and Nixa off of HWY 160 across from the Sonic (behind the Scuba Store)- I say currently because we are preparing to move to a new facility in a couple of months. The church is fairly new and this location is temporary- and we have grown out of it!
There is a great praise band with contemporary music and relevant teaching all scripturally based. They also have a great emphasis on youth, although it looks like your children are probably past that! The dress code is totally casual- come as you are-
Worship services are at 9 and 10:30. Check out the webpage and please consider visiting. I am certain you won't be disappointed.

Good luck!

Hi K.,
I'm actually in St. Louis, buy my Mom lives in Springfield and goes to a really awesome church there. It's called NorthPoint, right at I-44 and West Bypass. I believe it's non-denominational. It's contemporary, casual dress (and they have coffee & donuts :) The choir and band are wonderful (but really loud - just a warning!). Best of all though, the pastor is amazing. The sermons are really awesome, scripture based, and always very relevant. They have a lot of groups and activities for all different age groups. If you're college-aged kids go to church with you, they would probably really like it to. It's a really fun church, but they also have a great message. They have 3 services last time I visited, as they are growing very fast. I don't know if it's in the area you're looking for, but I always have to make a plug for it because I enjoy it so much when I get to visit! Best of luck!

What a wonderful decision...to become involved in a church!!! I would urge you to look at one of the scripturely based churches in your area...I see that Baptist Church has been suggested by one of the people responding to you...I am a Southern Baptist and I know that we are a Bible Based Church that would be feeding your spirit and encouraging you in the right direction. There are so many churches out there that are so wrapped up in being "politically correct" that they have watered down the message of the Bible...and made so many changes that they are not what you should be involved with. There are a lot of non-denominational churches out there that are solid sound churches but I would urge caution...if you dont have a good solid biblical background you can easily become involved in a church that is not true to the scripture.

Hey K.! Totally awesome that you want to join a church, especially in Springfield. Springfield First is the church that I've gone too before. I am in a General Baptist Denom and Springfield First is a sister church of ours up here in Kansas City. If you take the main road in Springfield (if you are coming from Bolivar/44 HWY) then stay on the main strip. I'm thinkin it's called Kansas Expressway. Keep on driving it. You'll come to a street called Walnut. Turn left at that light. It's just right up the hill from there. You'll be able to see it soon as you turn on to Walunt. Good luck in whatever church you find!

God bless,
A.

Hi, the church I go to is called Christ Family Fellowship. I would say it is a contemporary church, non-denominational, pentacostal church. It is a very small congregation, about less then 50 people. We meet at the Glad Tidings Assembly of God church (which we rent) on Sundays. There is only one service on Sundays at 2p.m. to 4p.m. located at 1301 W. Atlantic, Springfield, MO 65803. If you want to call me with more infomation, my name is M., home number is ###-###-####.
