Chronic Yeast Infection in 10 y.o.

My 10 y.o. dd has been suffering from yeast infections for months. The diflucan helps a little, but not enough. She's tried yogurt and supplements, and been to the doctor at least 4 times. She has arthritis (immune disorder). It started when she was on antibiotics for several ear infections. I know that yeast infections at this age are fairly rare, but it really does seem to be a yeast infection (based on the doctors). Anyone know something to try, or would a gyn or some other specialist be a good choice?

What can I do next?

I would take her off all yeast producing foods. and have a yeast free diet. I would not be surprised if she had some behavioral or other issues as well due to the yeast sensativity. Good luck with all that...Hope she gets better.

My friend is into homeopathic stuff and told me you can put yogurt with active cultures on the end of a tampon and insert it. It should help clear it right now. It's cheaper and easier to get than the medicines. I also tried some homeopathic pills at Kroger and they worked for me.

I would try to take her to a Gynocologist,if you haven't already.

So sorry to hear that. Yeast can be so painful. She may need to really change her diet by avoiding many foods as well as adding the yogurt and acidophilus. There is a good book I once read called "The Yeast Connection and The Woman." I gave it to a friend who was having similar problems. There were a lot of things that I didn't even connect to a yeast issue. I remember it saying to avoid bread products, which makes sense but also things like Coke! I'd try finding that book or something similar and reading up. A simple diet modification might really help. God bless and good luck.

I had this problem as a child as well. I suggest you look into the disease Candida and find a holistic doctor.
