I usually only get one or two of these when I am pregnant. I am not usually prone to them otherwise. I have one now and it seems my husband and I keep passing it back & forth and NO I am not pregnant. We can't use condoms as I am allergic to whatever the heck is in/on them. Does anyone else have this problem? What can I do to help it? I have been to the doc & got medicine but how do I keep them from coming back. This would have been a good question to ask the doc when I was there but I forgot. :(

What can I do next?

Probiotics, probiotics, probiotics, for both of you. Yeast starts in the gut so you need to eliminate the problem there. Try to find one with as broad a spectrum of bacterias as you can.

It is also possible to out one (if in capsul form) into a douche and help attack the yeast directly.

I just had this happen with my SO! I am somewhat prone to yeast infections but this is the first time the SO got one (rash, itching etc). He had to get treatment (which is pretty unusual) and he had to continue treatment for awhile after the symptoms were gone. You need to completely clear the infection before having sex again - maybe 10 days - ask your doctor. One of the first signs for me is slightly cloudy urine. If you see that, do not have sex. In case you don't know the preventative stuff - drink lots of fluids, probiotics and always pee/shower after sex. Sorry you are dealing with this - yuck!

As others have said, make sure that your husband gets treated for a yeast infection too. And don't have sex until you're both cleared. Easy.

So, you are BOTH treating the infections? Because he will need to, as well. It sounds like you've been having sex before you've both completely rid yourselves of the infection. I'm allergic to latex in condoms. There are other types on condoms out there, though. Maybe try those and see what happens? BTW, a yogurt every day keeps these in check and so does this:

Both of you need to treat the infection, or he'll just keep reinfecting you. Abstaining from sex until you're both clear. (Even if you could use them, condoms wouldn't help because yeast is not restricted to the covered area.)

For preventing future infections, modify what you eat. Google "yeast reduction diet" for ideas and tips. In general, you'll want to reduce/avoid foods with yeasts, mold, sugars, refined foods, starches and alcohol.

Your husband needs to be treated as well as you and please at the same time. Otherwise you will never get rid of it.

Watch your sugar intake. That has done wonders for me! Following a healthy diet with veggies/fruit and cutting out many processed foods really has made the difference. Also, being careful of using harsh soaps and only wearing cotton undies.
