My daughter will be 17 months at Christmas. I was thinking about getting her a baby doll and items to go with it like highchair etc. Is she too you for this? What ideas do you have for a little girl?

My 12 month old daughter just got a baby doll and stroller for her b-day. She loves it! She carries it around and puts her in the stroller. She also loves putting things in a toy grocery cart and pushing that around. I think over the next year or two your daughter will love anything that allows her to imitate things she see you do on a daily basis... My kids have loved pretend kitchen items (blender, mixer, pots , pans, etc), a pretend iron, kid lawn tools, etc. I have made a sprayer with water that I labelled with their name and it is their special cleaner to use when I am dusting/cleaning windows, etc.

I am sure she would love a doll.
Good luck and have a Merry Christmas!

My twin girls who are 2 LOVE books- and did at that age. For Christmas last year, they were 16 months and we got them several books, some really simple chunky wooden puzzles, little people are great (we got the farm set), and we got them a Melissa and Doug Train set (my parents bought the train table). They have used the train set some, but for this year, I got a few Thomas cars since they like Thomas. Their other "big" gift was a great little toddler wooden kitchen with wooden food. They have played with it almost everyday for a year now!!! Also, a pull along cart with alphabet blocks. Educational toys are great, because they seem to play with them more over time. Oh, we did get 2 dolls, which they have played with over time, and for their second birthday, we added little strollers. Good luck shopping!

We bought my daughter baby doll things about that age. It was a couple of months before we were going to have another baby. She loved them. She loved to push her doll around in it's stroller. She just turned five now and her little sister is 3. They still play with a lot of the same doll things. They're always pushing each other around in the doll stroller and somehow it's still not broken.

I don't think she's too young. I think she'll love it.

My daughter turned 2 last month. She still doesn't really get the whole doll thing, but I can see her just starting to understand some of it. I would suggest some mobile toys. I got one of those big plastic cars (Step2) for her to use outside last Christmas. She has loved for sitting in, pretending to drive and honking the horn. Recently she figured out how to make it go with her feet. We bought it used at a resale shop (Munchkins in Mt Pleasant), so it wasn't so expensive, but I saw a similar one new at WalMart yesterday for about $40 (Little Tykes brand I think). The Little People are also a big hit. She also loved simple puzzles and sorting things at that age.

A soft cuddly doll and maybe a little bed for her baby. I'm afraid the high chair would simply get destroyed and not be enjoyed yet. About 3 will be about right for more things. Don't worry about girly things yet but go for the educational toys. Those rated at 18 mos+ should work great. V.

Both of my kids started to love Little People at that age. We got my daughter the house and the bus that year.
