We have 4 out of 5 of our kids that live in the home and they all have chores. The all fold and put away all laundry and clean their rooms. They each have their own specific chores as well. They have other things they help in doing as needed as well. They are taught that everyone must take responsiblilty in the house.

13 year old son does the dishes and puts up left overs after dinner.

11 Year old son feeds and waters the dogs and cleans the front and back yards.

9 year old daughter cleans both bathrooms in the house and sweeps the floors

6 year old son straightens the living room and wipes down the kitchen table.

My 7 year old doesn't have set chores but does help out around the house every day. She's awesome about doing anything I ask of her, which is usually no more than picking up the things which accumulate around the house every day. She will help with laundry & putting away dishes and tidies her room when it needs to be done. She isn't "responsible" for any particular chore, but does help out as I ask her.

my 6yo and 3yo(whichever one is around) put the dog bowls out(i put the food and meds in the bowls) and clean up the dog bowls, both are expected to clean up toys in the playroom and their bedrooms(my husband and i DO NOT clean up toys) - both are expected to get their stuffed animals out of their beds and in their baskets first thing in the morning so i can make their beds easily. both put dirty clothes in the hamper. i don't require them to do any of the cleaning around the house. i will probably have them start making their beds at some point, but that's about it.

My 8 year old feeds and waters the dog, watches her sister if I need to go outside/vacume, etc. and picks up her room.

Man, I am feeling a bit like a mean M. here! My 6 year old daughter either has to clean the living room/ dining room including dusting and wiping off tv, or she cleans her bathroom and hall. The bathroom consists of cleaning the mirror, and using clorox wipes to wipe of all other surfaces. She also has to change the trash, and straigten the towels, and she even will attempt to scrub the toilet. This is in rotation with her older sister. They also have to clean their room and put away their clean laundry. Pretty soon my almost 9 year old will start helping more with laundry, like sorting and changing the loads etc. She can also unload the dishwasher, but I like to load it because I have a bit of ocd about how the washer is loaded. They both handle this just fine, and are not required to do this everyday, just as needed...and as long as it is not in the way of doing other things. It is not perfect, but they are learning. Good luck ~A.~

I just put the same request in. My 7yr son unloads the dishwasher, dumps all trash cans, makes his bed, and keeps his room tidy. We also have a dog and the kids work together to pick up the land mines. The dishwasher, trash and poop are on an as needed basis. The room thing is daily.

Good luck!
