Chiropractic / Upper Cervical Care for Ear Infections in Infant.

My Daughter has just turned 6 months old and has had four ear infections since January. When she gets them, they occur in both ears and the antibiotics barely touch the infection. When she got her first infection in January it took three different antibiotics and close to a month to get rid of it. So my question is…. Has anyone had experience with using either a Chiropractor or Upper Cervical Dr. to treat their infants’ ear infections?
I myself have seen an Upper Cervical Dr. in the past for migraines, and have had great success. I know the word on the street, or at least in their office, is that it works for ear infections. I was just curious if anyone can share their experience.
I should mention that she was "adjusted / corrected" by my Dr. when she was about two weeks old to address some colic symptoms...that seemed to help a lot...

What can I do next?

My 11 month old son has not had a single ear infection yet. There have been a couple of times that some redness has started to appear in his ear, so we have taken him to the Chiropractor and within 2 days it has cleared up and no ear infection came. We take him every month (we started when he was 3 months old and would have started sooner if we'd thought of it), unless he seems to be a bit off, then we take him in an additional time.

Yep, my husband is a chiropractor and has adjusted my daughter since the day she was born. She has never had an ear infection. We have other friends that are chiropractors and honestly can't remember any of the parents mentioning their kids have ear infections either. Remember though, like medication, chiropractic care doesn't work for everyone. There are DC's that take extra hours and continuing education aimed specifically at children. Ask your current DC if he is comfortable adjusting children (some aren't) if he is willing give it a try.

My son had bilateral ear infections at almost every well baby check up until I mentioned it to our chiropracter. He adjusted our son, immediatly his cheeks flushed and he got a big smile. I think he was telling me he felt much better. He has not had another ear infection since. A couple of colds and that is about it. He is 4 now.
We are taking both of our children 4 yo and 3 months, the both enjoy the experiance and it seems to keep them healthy when all the kids around them are getting sick.

My son gets adjusted weekly - he didn't have his first ear infection until 20mos, then had 3 of them within a 2mo period of him not getting adjusted (due to extenuating circumstances) when he was 31mos old. One of the infections did not go away with amoxicillan and the peed wanted to put him on augmentin. I had him adjusted the next 3days instead and the infection went away.

It could be coincidence. It could be other homeopathic things we do. It could be a combination. Good luck!

Everything Jennifer said! My own kids har been helped through their one ear infection each in 3 and 6 years, and through working there, I've seen at least ten kids helped by it, only one who still ended up needing tubes after a month or so of treatment. It works!

One thing you should be aware of is that when they are getting teeth this can cause inflammation in the ears and sinuses. My youngest I think I noticed this the most. What's very important to realize is that the tubes from the ear are very straight at this age up until the age of two when they really start to grow and the ear canal then starts to change and dip so it's not so straight. When it is really straight it allows for fluid to more easily collect and infections to start. By going for regular adjustments you can help keep things free for drainage. Granted it will not cure everything. It won't be a one time and done. This may take many adjustments because as the child grows and becomes more active, they are more likely to knock their body out of align when they play and fall.
I would also look at having them completely adjusted and also look for someone who is familiar with Cranial Sacral Massage therapy. This will also help with drainage.

I have not personally had chiro care for my kids ear infections but I used to work with a young mom who was beside herself dealing with her young son's ear infections. He was constantly on antibiotics and even after tubes, her doctor was recommending a continual low does antibiotics every day. Then she took her son to the a chiropractor who specialized in pediatrics. It worked like a charm. He adjusted him a few times, the infections were gone and then she brought him every week, then eventually every 2 weeks for maintenance. No more infections, no more antibiotics.

Good luck!

YES! I SWEAR by it for ear infections, upper respiratory, head colds, etc...! I have seen it work miracles with my children (and myself).

My son gets bronchiolitis EVERY year & chiropractic is the ONLY thing that makes it go away.

I love my chiropractor!
