Hi Moms,

My son is turning 2 soon and we are having a Thomas the Train themed birthday party. I would like to do some neat decorations with his pictures. Do you have any ideas for displaying a collage? Or any other sentimental decorating ideas? Or just ideas for the birthday party in general?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

We recently had a train party and found die cut outs of trains at the Dollar Tree. The windows of each of the cars were cut out and we put pictures in many of these then hooked the train cars together to form a banner. The pics were small but it was cute. I suppose you could also have a large poster size picture of Thomas engine and make puff clouds of smoke above his stack and place your son's pictures on these. This poster could double as the "pin the nose on the donkey" type game. We also used the brio train and track on top the birthday cake with the rest of the frosting sprayed green. We used colored electrical tape to make a train track on the floor and the kids rode wagons, trikes around the track. We made railroad signs along the track as well - ones the kids would recognize. All the kids wore their conductor hat favors and train whistles for this activity. I also recently saw online somewhere how to make a train out of toostie roll candies!

Large train cars with his pictures in the windows would be cute, maybe along with pictures of the guest invited as passengers.
Buy conductor hats for guests and play train music for musical chairs.
Maybe a train pinata filled with candy.

I did a Thomas party for my son's 2nd b day too! I use a lady that does 3D cakes so for tis one she did a blue train with a coal car filled with black jelly beans. It was super cute. If you wanted to, you could make a little stick figure conductor and glue your sons picture on for the the face. That could be cute. I also ordered Thomas, James and Percy mylar balloons off eBay. I think I got all 3 for around 6 bucks then just had them filled along with some latex balloons. I got a Thomas shirt off eBay too and he wore a little conductor hat. Pretty cute! Here is a link to a pic of the cake:

Hope that helps!

I would be happy to help you with some invitations, I can create custom invitations with any theme that you would like (including Thomas the Train). I also make party favors and would be happy to put pictures on them for you. I could do little cupcake toppers with his picture and Thomas the Train, favor tags, etc... My website is www.WorksofaWink.com

I made a banner for my daughters 4th birthday a few months ago but just cutting pictures into 5x5 squares then I put them on card stock and strung them on a string. I did a picture for every six months from birth to current.

You are welcome to email me and I will show you what I mean about the favors and cupcake toppers ____@____.com

I saw this idea somewhere and thought it was neat. Do a collage poster with his picks and put any milestones he might have done or special trips etc that you went on through the year.

Go to walmart and get some of the $3 picture frames. Put his pictures in them along with Thomas stickers (hobby lobby/Michaels) on all the corners. They should have tons of great Thomas scrapbook stickers and borders for you to choose from. :) Good luck and happy birthday to your little guy!
