I am a principal of a PK-5th elementary school and we are always grateful for any books. If you don't find a good home for them, please keep me in mind. Thanks.

I would recommend donating to The Childrens Hospital. They are always in need of books in their libraries! Great place to donate used VCR tapes and DVDs too!

I believe libraries take book donations. Also shelters will take book donations.

Domestic violence shelters are the perfect place for children's books. A book can be a huge comfort and a source of escape to an abused child. The Genesis Shelter in Dallas or the New Beginning Center in Garland are two that I know of. Good luck.

C.,
Any childrens floor of a hospital would love to have your books. Many churches also are in need of childrens books if they have childrens programs or sponsor children programs.

You can sell them to Half Price Books or Kid to Kid.
If you'd feel better about donating, I would try churches, pre-schools, day care centers, etc. in neighborhoods/areas that are less fortunate where they would really appreciate having donated books for the children that they take care of.

You might consider donating them to the library - whichever local library you support. I often take my used paperbacks and some hardcovers to them and they're always appreciative!

I think hospitals can always use them or you could sell them at Half Price and let your kids shop for new books with the $ they make.
