Hi, I have the same issue with my 2 year old. She has seasonal psoriasis. she just got another outbreak. I bathe her in natural cleansers (NO FRAGRANCE!) I have been lotioning her up with lucerin. It seems to get better....

Have you tried some of the vegetarian products out there? VeggieDogs, Veggie burgers? etc They even have veggie nuggets for the kids. I know it's not exactly the point of getting the child to eat an actual veggie, but it works. Thats what I had to do with my daughter. She loves to eat pasta so I make it with vegetable broth. She eats it with like alphabets or pastina and loves it. I hope this helps !

Please check w/ a pediatric doctor that specializes in allergies. My son SUFFERED with the same thing only to find out that he was allergic to milk (no thanks to 2 peds). WIthin in days of stopping milk, the rash, itchiness and bowel movements all returned to normal. Good Luck!

My 2 year old daughter has excema(i think i spelled wrong)anyways...i had to take her to a dermatoligist. the best thing i found for her besides these steriod ointments and lotions that smell is swimming in a pool with the chlorine. cleared it up mostly. Holiday Inn is $7 a person and indoors. My dad has psoriasis too and they say just ointment but hes had it for all my life and im 25. well hope i helped.

Hi K., my step father has psoriasis, and I have never seen it get better on it's own or go away in the 20 years I have known him. He has a severe case, and a few times a week he has to self inject medication, he has also gone for light therapy. It was hardly there when we first met him, it's been progressive.

I advise you to go to another doctor, even better if it's a dermatologist, if you haven't already. Also a note, I know that water and soap can become painful, as this is a condition where the skin regenerates quicker than it can slough off, often leaving the area raw.
For now use whatever lotion or creams you have that seem to make him feel better.

I have had psoriasis since I am 16 (now 34) Your dr. is wrong..psoriasis never goes away it may get better or worse. Excezma goes away entirely but not psoriasis. I would bring yoru son to an allergist and have him tested for everything just to make sure..I am a BIG believer that food plays a major effect on psoriasis..I changed my diet in some ways and my skin is so much better and less itchy. Also short warm (not hot) baths and lubriderm or ahava many times a day.

psoriasis at 3 seems a little extreme mabey it's exsema. my son has exsema and he is also 3 probably got from me i suffer from psoriasis didnt get it until i was in my 20s i'm 34 now. he always has dry skin and i just use lotion to make him feel better.
psoriasis is a skin desiese that there is no cure for. it has to do with your imune system and way too many white blood cells.
i would talk to a specialist for your son before doing anything else. it could be anything. diet does help and lots of sun. good luck.

I have psoriasis and have found that the best over the counter thing you can buy to soften the scales and soothe the itching is Aquaphor from Eucerin. Usually as long as the psoriasis is not dry (kept lubricated) it is not itchy. Put it on in the morning and at night. It only contains 4 ingredients... petroleum, mineral oil, ceresin and lanolin alcohol. It does wonders for my skin and I have in the past used injection therapy, giving myself injections of Raptiva into my stomach weekly but I stopped when pregnant with my last child and have yet to be back to the dermatologist. I too would suggest seeing a doctor. Best of luck with your son!!!

K. I have the same problem with all 3 of my children and myself. The thing that helps sooth it is Palmers Cocoa Butter Cream. After you give the baby a bath don't dry him completely leave him a little wet and them rub the cream all over very well and let it soak in. It won't take it away but it will sooth all the dry skin. But you have to do it everytime you bath him. Let me know how it works for you. It works for my boys and myself. I hope this advice works for you.

I have psoriasis and it does NOT go away on its own. It starts as what looks like a little pimple in a dry area and then after some itching its red and then a white scab. My father has it all over his body. I have to use moisturizer to stop the itching. (Mary Kay Intense Moisiturizing Cream - its been the only moisturizer that has worked for me, I've tried them all!) And then if I don't touch it, it will fade away... but I have to continue not to touch it otherwise it flares right back up again and I start all over with the scratching. I'm not sure how you will get a three year old to stop scratching. I'd just pile on the moisturizer... just be careful that its not open anyway because ANY moisturizer burns. Hopefully your doctor is right and he will grow out of it... but my experience is that I unfortunatly grew into it. :-(

hello. the other responses are pretty much right on...but if you want to try something while you wait for another dr to take a look at your son, i may have some quick, yet temperary tips. a friend of mine has a child with eczema (which i was told was a type of psoriasis)....she used the lotions that you said you've been using, but that will make the cuts (from scratching) will burn. she also said that when it gets really bad, she takes something out of her freezer (like a bag of frozen peas, or whatever) and puts it on the area that's bad and it helps sooth him. she also uses a tube of vasaline and puts it all over him (under his clothes). don't give too many baths, cuz it will dry out his skin, and when you do give him a bath, put lotion (with NO fragrance) while he's still wet. also the sun is good for the skin when you have this problem, just make sure that it's not too warm out, or windy either...as these will make it worse! there are also eczema creams and also medicines out there...all natural stuff, i think the best has the winnie the pooh characters on the box (natural wonders or natural something). i hope that any if not all of these suggestions help you out! good luck.

Hi K., Psoriasis does not go away by itself and I cannot believe that a doctor said such!!! My son has it and he sees a dermatologist every few months as he needs to use a prescribed cream daily. However, my son is a teenager and has a mond of his own and forgets to use the cream and the psoriasis flares up all over again. It is unfortunate when people, especially children get this because there is no cure, only meds to temporarily clear it up. Stress is a big factor as is a poor immune system. I highly recommend you see a dermatologist and let them decide if your child should be on over the counter remedies or something stronger.....

You know what I work with health and wellness company and I have learned a lot about what can aggravate psoriasis. Tide and many other laundry detergents can and so can Johnson and Johnson baby wash. If you want more information let me know
