Child's Shoe Size Jump

Just wondering to sort of compare my 6 year old to see if she is average or not...this also happened at 3 yrs old. Her shoe size just changed from 1 1/2 to 2 1/2!! Her dad does have a size 16. She is also almost 4 feettall

What can I do next?

I wouldn't be worried about it, especially if her father is tall. My hubby is 6'5" with only a size 12 shoe, my 14 year old son is 4'11" with a size 6 boys shoe (his bio-father is only 6' in a size 10 shoe), my 9 year old daughter is 4'7" with a size 3 1/2 shoe and my 7 year old son is 4'4" with a size 2 1/2 shoe...then there is my step daughter, who will be 14 in December, is 5'10" and probably in a size 9 womans shoe by now.

It just sounds like that they are healthy and growing strong :)

My son did the same thing. It is fine. It just can get expensive!!! He also did the same thing with his clothes. He was the same size for 2 years then BAM, he went up 2-3 sizes in a school year.

Hope this helps

Hello C.-My son had the same thing happen with his shoes and his pants. He is 4yrs old and he is 44inches already. They have their growth spurts and look out=) I had bought some pants for my son and literally 2 wks later they didn't fit in the length. They grow fast so I think it's normal.
Take care.

It's just a normal growth spurt, nothing to worry about. Her dad has a pretty large size shoe and she is probably going to as well. My own father wears a size 14mens and I wear a size 11womens as an adult. I remember having growth spurts just like hers when I was a child - and again during pregnancy! With my second child I gained a whole size!

Very normal... But I have been AMAZED at how different shoe sizes can be, even from the same manufacturer. I bought my son some Adidas Superstar tennis shoes in a 7. When he started to outgrow them, I bought him Adidas Adi Racers. I ordered an 8 thinking that would be perfect, but after several exchanges he ended up with a 9! I couldn't believe it, but then when we got his boots a couple weeks ago, they were indeed an 8. Go figure... Just sounds like you've got a healthy, growing girl on your hands...

I can relate. I have a son who will be 5 on the 27th of this month. He is very tall for his age. He was actually off the percentile growth chart at the Drs office last month. So the Dr. thinks he will be over 6'5'' when he's done growing. Anyhow... Last summer He went from a 10 to a 12 shoe size. I dont know what happened but all of a sudden he was needing bigger shoes. I think kids go thru these huge growth spurts at different times in their life and we just have to do our best to try to keep up with them. I'm sure your daughter is just growing right now.

Hi,
My son just turned 5 in June and he is in a size 4.5 shoe.
He is 54in tall (4.5ft) and is 68lb. our doctor has said that he is the average size of a 7-8 yr old. He is supposed to top out at just over 7ft tall, we'll see! So the change is shoe size is normal especially if it’s in her genes.
