The children's museum is really AWESOME! I also second Miller Park. The zoo, playgrounds and lake are all really nice. We usually do most of our shopping in peoria. Bloomington is more of a restaurant town rather than a shopping town. We do have a nice mall, but nothing exciting. We do have tons of places to eat. My kids love Ming's. It's a buffett with tons of choices (the sushi is great) Imperial buffett has EVERYTHING.

Depending on when you are going through Bloomington there is several things that you can do. The Children's museum is great and it is well worth your time to stop there. It is 3 floors of great activities for children of all ages. They have areas for infants to older children and something for everything in between. If you are passing through when it's nice out there is the Miller Park zoo and a huge park with it. The zoo is small but it is nice and well taken care of. There is two parks outside of it and if it's summer out there is even a water part of the park for kids to splash and play in. The big play ground has 3 different areas for kids of all ages. Both are worth the time to stop at.

The Children's Discovery Museum is GREAT for kids. http://www.childrensdiscoverymuseum.net/

There are tons of restaurants in Bloomington. Avanti's is a favorite of everyone who went to college at ISU and IWU and so many people go back for it. It is inexpensive italian food with super yummy bread.

Bloomington/Normal has a lot to choose from for dining, a good variety. Here's a link to the visitor's bureau: http://www.bloomingtonnormalcvb.org/
