Chicco Polly Highchair

I have this high chair and it is ok, but not worth the price. I agree with the other poster's comments about it being hard to clean - too many small cracks. Also, I don't like that even with the seat in the most upright position, my little girl is still a little reclined and I can't get her to sit fully upright so she has a hard time and has to lean forward to reach her food on the tray. The "dishwasher" friendly trays do not fit in our dishwasher either. I would opt for something less expensive!

We have a Fisher Price Rain Forest Healthy Care High Chair. We paid $90 for it and have been mostly happy with it. It came with two toys that are son loves. Assembly was a little difficult, but the tray is easy to take on and off and clean. We considered the Chicco Polly, but decided on the Fisher Price because it was highly recommended by Baby Bargains and was quite a bit cheaper.

We were completely happy with our $60 high chair.

I have the chicco highchair. There are pros and cons with it. I like that it folds up when not in use and I can fit it in a closet if needed to get it out of the way. I like that you can keep the tray hooked onto the back of the chair when not in use. I like that you can adjust the height of the seat and that it reclines..that was great when my son was littler. But that is where my happiness stops. The cons are that there are so many nooks and crannies and food gets into them and it's so hard to clean it out. There are crevices in the tray itself so food gets in there and you have to completely take the tray apart with tools to clean it appropriately which the tray was not designed for...it is hard to get everything back in place to get the tray back together again. The strap don't come off so you can't wash them and they get grimy. So I end up having to scrub them while still attached to the chair and then wait for them to dry before my son can get back in the chair....such a pain. I am getting all tense just typing about it! LOL I won't be using this high chair for any other kids I may have....I don't even think I will sell it..I don't want anyone else to have to go through the trouble it takes to clean it. I didn't pay for it though, it was a gift for my shower but I was the one who registered for it. I thought the most expensive high chair at Babies R Us was the way to go. Not true! But in all actuality, the one I do want is only available online at Target and is even more money than this one! LOL But it is smooth with no crevices so I am willing to pay the extra money for that. Hope this helps your decision. Do not get this high chair! :)

I have that highchair. We spent a ton on it and never once used any of the features. We never ever folded it up, what's the point, she used it 3-5 times a day. We locked the rolling wheels, the tray didnt fit in our dishwasher, I never moved the seat around, I think I moved the footrest part up once. It is easy to wipe down, but crumbs and things get stuck in the crevices of the seat, especially by the seat belt which is a pain to remove to clean. If I could do it again I would buy a cheaper highchair with less 'options' since we didn't use any of them. Easy to clean would be my main focus.

We never even bought a high chair. When our daughter first started eating we set he in a Bumbo chair, then we moved her to this Fisher Price booster seat. It's only $19.99 and it's AWESOME! It takes up very little space and can be easily taken anywhere (like to Grandma's house). It has been perfect for us.

I used this highchair with my daughter (now 3 years old) and really liked it. I saved it and will use it with my 2nd child. It folds up nice and slim and the cushion covers are removable for cleaning. For us, though, the most important feature was that it fit our daughter really well. She was small for her age. We sat her in a lot of chairs before deciding on the Chicco Polly and most were way too big for her (she could barely see over the trays). The chair does last, though, it accomodates kids up to almost 40 lbs, I think. Another nice ergonomic feature about this chair is the foot rest. It is adjustable and can be be positioned straight out for when the child is little. This allows them to sit comfortably for longer periods of time. One last thing that I like about the Polly is that it comes in many color options. It might be silly, but I wanted a highchair that wouldn't clash with my dining room decor -- the highchair was a permanent piece of furniture in there for quite a while after all!

My sister had this highchair for my niece...it is a good one, but it takes up a lot of space. I was her nanny for a few months, and I liked the fact that the highchair had rollers, and the harness. But putting the harness on takes even more time and with a hungry screaming baby sometimes it was frustrating. Otherwise it is fine...but I am not sure I would pay $140 for it!

Personally I tried several highchairs. I liked the folding Avalon one I got from my other sister [I think it was from Target] until my sons legs were too big for it. It folded flat and was nice and simple and easy to clean. I tried an Evenflo one with a back that you could adjust to tilt back for a baby that can't sit up yet. That one had rollers which was good but the rest of it was badly designed. I also tried [and still have] a restaurant style wood high chair..but that is not a good one until they are older since they have to sit at a table and be trusted not to throw food.

The one I ended up sticking with was from a garage sale...it is a Gerry brand older style, probably from the 90's. It is not "cute" by any means but I love it. The best thing about it is it has a padded vinyl seat, adjustable footrest, and a nice big tray with high sides that is easy to get on and off. I definitely suggest getting one with a big tray with high sides that is easy to take on and off, and a padded seat that is easy to clean is another must. Since it is comfortable to sit in my son doesn't mind it for other things...I put him in it to color, play with play dough, watch Baby Einstein, etc
My son is 17 months and I still use the highchair because he likes to wipe his food all over with his hands at the end of the meal. We call it the "window wiper". I just can't trust him to be in a booster seat at the table yet.

I like to figure out the monthly cost before deciding if something is worth the money. If you figure most babies don't sit up on their own until at least 6 months and you will use the highchair until your child is 18 months to 2 years, that is 12-18 months of use if you don't switch to a booster earlier. You would be paying $9-13 a month if you go with the Chicco one...and you can also resell it after you are done with it [probably for $25-35] but that is still $7-11 a month for a highchair. I got mine at a garage sale for $5 [28 to 42 cents a month]....but say you get one for $15 it would only be 84 cents to $1.25 a month for the time you will use it [assuming you even use it that long...maybe you will want to buy a booster before 18 months in which case the cost per month would be higher yet]. If you figure out all of the things you are buying for baby that way, you can see how it fits in to your monthly budget and if it is really reasonable compared to the cost of other things. Personally I don't see a point in buying anything new, because the time it will be used is so short that it just doesn't make it worth it for me when I can get something much much cheaper used [especially clothes...I would not even pay $5 for an outfit..at least not until my son gets to be older and wears them for a longer time]. But if you plan on having more kids and are hanging onto things that changes it a bit.
If you do really want the Chicco one I would at least check craigslist and Once Upon a Child first to see if you can get it cheaper

We got the Chicco Polly mostly because it can be folded flat, and -supposedly- easy to wipe clean. Well, as the latter is not really true, we are using the former option to store it flat while we use a Fisher Price booster we got from a thrift store for $2!

My son spit up a lot, and it was impossible to "wipe clean" the seat. We had to take out the whole cover/padding and the straps (which is a pain) and wash it. They do not recommend washing the padding, which is a red flag for a high chair in my opinion. If I knew this, I would not buy this chair for sure! Well, we ended up washing it in cold water, gentle cycle and hang dry a few times. The good thing is it was still fine after the washing. But the buckles do not come off, so it is virtually impossible to completely clean the crevices of the buckles... I bought a vinyl high chair cover for $20 as well, but it is only good for crumbles and stuff, not spit up (it will go through the openings anyways so I end up removing and washing the whole thing.)

If your baby is not spitter, this high chair may be fine, probably together with a high chair cover (which will add $20 to the cost!)

I would definitely recommend a high chair that has a vinyl cover that can be washed, or a simple booster without any crevices or cloth-like padding that can be easily wiped clean.

I bought the Polly High Chair for my oldest daughter. The features all sold me on it, but the reality is that it is very difficult to clean (and I am not a clean freak by any means) and takes up a ton of floor space when it is open. Also, you can not take off the tray and lay it flat because of the leg harness/separator thing. It is at a 45 degree angle, so everything will slide off if you ever have to take it off and lay it out. I ending up REALLY DISLIKING this highchair.

I sold my on craigslist and even two craigslisters didn't want it after reading the reviews on babiesrus.com. Read the negative reviews because they are true!!

We used a much simpler fisher price high chair while visiting friends and it was perfect--nothing crazy but smart design. We will get this for our second daughter.

I have one that we used at first but I have a smaller kitchen. We were visiting friends out of town and we tried a booster attached to a chair that worked really well so I decided to use that instead to save space. It was nice but he got a lot of food on the straps because he kept touching them with his hands and I thought the tray was a little difficult to put on and take off. You can probably go to the Babies R Us website or Amazon and read some other reviews.
