mY 20 month old has Chiari 1 malformation. She just started throwing up at night only for the past 3 night. She is fine during the day. She has no fever or any other symptoms. A couple hours after I put her to be she wakes up throws up and the screams for a good 15 20 min. I hold her for 10 more min. then she goes back to sleep. Talk to your doc about reflux.

Hi there. I am a 42 year old woman and I was diagnosed with Chiari I when I was in my 20s. I've honestly never heard of someone getting a diagnosis at such a young age, nor have I heard of the disorder causing someone to throw up. I assume you've been seeing a neurologist for your daughter's Chiari. Could the vomiting be totally unrelated to the disorder? I totally sympathize with your situation and hope you find the answers you need.

L.

I am so sorry that you and your daughter have to deal with this but it is good that you have a support group like mamapedia to go to. Do you think it could be migrains that she is waking up with? I know that my son who is ADHD and on meds will get migrains and if they are sever enough it will make him throw up too. One other thing I found odd, usually it is Chiari 2 Malformation that is diagnosed at birth or soon after and Chiari 1 is typically diagnosed in adults. I would consider getting a 2nd opinion from a nother specialist or at least discussing it with her current (nurologist?) specialist. Bless you both!

She could be having night terrors that stress her out.
She could also have reflux.
There are so many things she could have.
But the best way to find out is to see a doctor.

my sis in law is a ped. she says to see your doc it may be due to too much pressure on her head when she lies down. Seek your doctor asap.
