Anyone know of a decent place to stay w hubby for one night in August in Chatham area? We always stay at Highlander Motel since they don't have a 2 night minimum and I can actually afford it and still walk to the town but they are BOOKED! Bummed. Let me know any ideas of where to stay and also things to do.

What can I do next?

If it's only 1 night, I would stay at Hawthorne. You will be right in the center of it all, and Chatham is amazing in the summer! (year round really, but especially summer) Have fun! Check out Capecodmagazine.com They have tons of info online. Enjoy!

Friends of mine just stayed at the Hawthorne - it's right on the beach opposite Chatham Bars, and less expensive. Don't know about minimums though. If you stay somewhere else not on the beach, Hardings Beach has a real bathroom (vs. porta-potties) and lots of parking. We like to mosey through town, go to Chatham Light, walk the beach. There's a railroad museum if you enjoy that sort of thing, and Harbor boat tours to see all the seals. Get a boat staffed by a naturalist - they are more informative and definitely don't harass the seals. You can go down to the pier to fish or watch other people do it. There is antiquing on Route 6A in Orleans/Brewster, not too far away.
