Hello moms,

Since the fall my lips have been getting more and more chapped and its ridiculous now, I have been layering on Carmex and Burt Bee's but neither are working anymore. I have also been trying to stay hydrated and not licking my lips but is there anything else?? Is there a different chap stick that you moms use??????

Thanks!

I live by plain chapstick in the black tube ( original). I use the bert's bees lip shimmer with color tint and love that as well. Those are the 2 main products I use and I am very pleased with them.

I use some lipstick on occasion, mostly department store brands like Clinique.

Hope that helps!

I was just at the store the other day and there is an over the counter medication that use to be sold by prescription only. It cost about $15 I was think about getting it for my son he also has very dry lips. You probably need to run a cool humidifier in your room it really does help.

I am having the same problem! I have vaseline everywhere. It works for a while, but then they are burning again. I also use aquaphor. I don't drink enough water so I am trying that too.

I had the same issue. Both Carmex and Burts Bees contain agents that will dry your lips... the menthol and mint extracts. I use chapstick naturals... the regular chapstick is too waxy for me. These are perfect and I buy 3 and 4 at a time so they are in every purse and medicine cabinet in my home!!!

Hydrocortisone ointment works when nothing else does. It stops the inflammation and rash and then we go back to normal lip products. All my sons are lip lickers and sometimes forget to put chapstick on, and you guessed it the red ring around the mouth and lips. Just don't lick if you can help it, it won't hurt you to lick, but it tastes horrible! Helps them to stop licking. I find the ointment at HEB their generic brand. Cream will work but doesn't seem to coat the skin as well or as long and feels weird compared to the ointment. Hydrocortisone isn't supposed to be used on the face for a prolonged period of time, so just a little bit for a few days to tamp down the inflammation should do the trick.
Good luck,
L.

We actually swear by aquaphor..that stuff is my answer for alot of things actually!! Expecially if you put some on at night before bed. I tend to run a fan in my room, so it gets a little dry, and the aquaphor really makes a difference. ~A.~

I personally use Lip Medix. It's in a little blue pot and about $1.50. Your lips are being dried out by Carmex because it's got a drying agent in it to help get rid of coldsores not to moisturize. Just a little heads up on why it's not helping. I learned that while I was working as a pharmacy tech. Hope it get better soon!

Hi Liz,

This is old school but it works everytime. Vick salve is a cure all in my family take a little and rub it in on the lips. It's not just a chest rub. It also works well on mild diaper rashes, just don't put it near any openings. I know people will say this is crazy but it works trust me it gives a cool sensation after applied and takes care of the sting of the rash.
