Changing OB/GYN Practice

I'd highly recommend my OB/GYN practice - Lakeshore OB/GYN. They're located at 680 N Lakeshore. The practice is smaller, about 6 doctors. My primary OB is Dr. Barton, but I found all the doctors to be very personable. I was very happy with the care I received. And the office runs very efficiently - I never had to wait too long for an appointment, the max was probably 15 minutes. Good luck!

Yes yes yes you should change. Think about ALL the things you might want to be different this pregnancy and birth. You can start with picking a doctor or midwife you feel good about. They will transfer your records and it shouldn't be any problem at all. Personally, I am not fond of Prentice - I feel like the care is impersonal and it's somewhat of a "baby factory" but I know many who think it's great. I had my first baby at the old Prentice and my second at UIC. I would take UIC any day - they were very respectful of my wishes to have a natural birth - very supportive, and I felt like EVERY decision that was made was mine to make - I never felt coerced into anything. If you're a normal healthy woman may I suggest the midwives at UIC? Or midwives anywhere?

If you're hoping to stay with Evanston Northwestern (now North Shore Medical), I had fantastic experiences with North Shore Associates in OBGYN. I saw a midwife - Deborah Lesnick, and both my 2nd and 3rd boys were born with her by my side the ENTIRE labor and delivery. It was wonderful. My 1st born was at Lutheran General with a large group of dr's too, so when it came time to deliver my choice of doctor was not available, and the one who appeared had horrible bedside manner. North Shore associates has OBGYN doctors as well as midwives, they are all nice!

I'm on baby #2 with the midwives at NMPG, also at the 680 building, 8th floor. I love the Personal attention they give..seriously, delivering my 1st was like delivering with a girlfriend..we were chatting in between contractions and they give you a bit more attention at your visits. If you like an extra personal touch, ask for Sarah or Julie. They are the most personal. The others are all great, but have been around a bit longer and may be a bit more clinical(though I really like them all) ###-###-####! good luck and don't stick it out....find who you like and the whole thing is more enjoyable!
