Chalkboard Paint? - Chicago,IL

I don't remember the brand we used, but it really works. My husband framed the wall we painted to make it look like a real chalk board and he put a ledge at the bottom to hold the chalk and erasers. Our chalk board wall has been used for about 3 years now and it still works great, we never even had to touch it up.

We painted the back of my daughter's bedroom door with it. Yes it works very well, as long as you have a very smooth surface to work with and use one of those super smooth rollers to put it on. I got ours at Home Depot--don't remember the brand.

I think we used the Crayola brand which i bought at Home Depot. Once it's on, make sure you "season" it by rubbing chalk all over it once, then erasing it all. Then it's ready to use. It really does work and if you put a base coat of "magnetic" paint under it, you have both a magnetic board as well as a chalkboard. Pretty cool stuff!

I just got mine at walmart but have not gotten around to it yet. I hear it really works and know that teachers have been known to touch up their classrooms w/ it. have fun, happy art.

I got a can at Menards. I was a can in a green box, maybe a pint or 2 size. It worked great but you need more than one coat. After I did it, I wished I had put magnetic paint underneath so my kids would have more uses as they got older. The more coats of the magnetic paint you put on, the better the magnets stick.

not only did i paint a door in the basement with it, but i painted and "framed" a huge rectangle on the side of our oil tank outside for the kids, its been out there for probably 3 years now in full south sun and a couple of crazy ny summers and winters, and its still like new. i painted it on with a paintbrush, a bit of a learning curve with the drips and quick drying and all, did a couple of coats. love it.

I bought some at Lowes. The kids loved it in their playroom. However, I found that the colored chalk stained our carpet. It just got so messy that I painted over it. But because they loved it so much I'm in the process of chalkboard painting our old kitchen table to leave in the unfinished basement. I also heard about a mom that painted one wall in her garage.

We made HUGE chalkboard for our fence in the backyard. The paint worked great. I don't remember the brand of the first kind we used, but it was a spray can and I don't really recommend that. After a year of hot summer and rainy winter, we redid it with the kind in the can that we rolled on ( I don't remember the brand of this one either).... The coverage was better and off course nicer for the earth and easier to apply. We bought both at Ace Hardware.

We applied magnetic paint first and then chalk paint. It seems everyone used a variety of brands. Our unknown brand worked just great.

Yes it works. You can buy it at Walmart. Use a foam applicator so that it goes on real smooth. I used it to refresh my classroom chalk board and it turned out great. You will probably need 2 coats on a regular wall.

I have a huge section of my daycare room painted with chalkboard paint and it is really great. The only negative is chalk dust on the floor by it. I used about 5 coats, but a very small (quart?) can did a 4 X 6 section with lots to spare.

I actually considered repairing the large chalkboard my parents bought my brother and I when I was about 7. I found it in my parents garage a couple years ago. I haven't done it yet though because I don't currently have the wall space and my youngest is just now out of the eat the chalk age.

We used chalkboard spraypaint on metal flashing(since our walls are too rough) and anchored it to the wall with a frame. It worked great, and doubles as a magnet board.
