Central Air Installation in Media, Pa.
I have a house that is currently heated by oil and is a hot water radiator system. We are looking to have central air installed. Our house is a split level and we know this is going to be pricey but are tired of our window units...lol. I want my windows back ;)
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone out there has had a good experience with an installer and would recommend them...or a bad experience and would steer us away from using them.
So far, we have only had an estimate from Sears. Any thoughts on them?

Hi L.,
My co-worker went with a company called Gieger in Montgomery company and had a good experience.
Otherwise, I would recommend you check www.angieslist.com for contractors. We use that service and have hired at least 5 contractors of various types and each one was excellent. Angie's List is a community referral service, there is a small access fee, but totally worth the money.
Good luck!

To L. F,
My neighbor had the same problem as you. She and her husband had the central air installed by a company called Unique Comfort. They did a good job and the unit is a lot more efficient and does a better job at cooling than mine. She can't remember where they are located but thinks it might be in King of Prussia. Good Luck! C. I work for Horizon Services and have been with them for 14 yrs now. They are a wonderful company that stands behind their work, are members of the Better Business Bureau and they background check all their employees. I would highly recommend them.
As for Sears, my understanding is that they contract the work out so it's not their employees, if that is still the case, that ususally means paying more and less control over the results.

Hi L., we live in West Chester and just had central air installed last summer and it was worth every single penny! We used Hanson, based in West Chester. We found their # in the yellow pages (you could probably also find it online). They specialize in houses that have no ducts or are difficult to install. We actually had people refuse to give us an estimate because they thought our house would be too difficult but Hanson was fantastic. They were very professional and we are very happy with our investment. Best of luck to whomever you chose!
