So What Happened?

My neighbors have a carpet cleaner and I was going to use it but since I do everthing around the house, painting etc and so many things, I thought I would treat myself. It is also berber< spelling, so I figured if they do anything wrong they are insured! Thanks you wonderful women for responding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Annie

I agree with TF. We have always cleaned our own carpets. I have seen the type of work that is done by carpet cleaners over the years at friend and family homes and I was not impressed. Think about it, its your home, nobody will care as much as you do about its cleanliness. Buy yourself a carpet cleaner, this is what I use:

Its easy to use and the results are great.

I've been borrowing a Bissel Steam Cleaner from a friends' mom and have liked it. I've never tried a professional one. I like that I use just hot water, hot water with vinegar, or hot water with a green cleaner made for it. We rent and I have no idea if our carpet has ever been shampooed, but I've actually soaped up the carpet really well to scrub the suds down into the carpet fibers and then used the steamer to pull everything out (dirt, soapy water) and then do a steam rinse. I couldn't believe what I was getting out--pain the rear, yes, but I really like walking on the carpet now. :) I am doing it in segments when the kids are napping or having a snack.

I've used them in that past when I was in a hurry. They were ok....they, like most other companies rush to get done and move on.

Personally, we prefer cleaning our carpets ourselves. It is time consuming but it is my dirt, no strange machine in my house, and we don't rush through it.

We LOVE the Bissell Pro Heat machine.

I have used them and they do a good job. They are pretty quick and have left the carpets clean as expected. One thing to note is if you have a deep liquid stain that has set in, it will come up at first and appear to be gone, but it may resurface after a period of time. This would be with any cleaner, though. Often you can get a discount if you book SS online if you have a minimum of 100 dollars. They will try to get you to add rooms (or services like cleaning chairs/couches) once they come usually. If you have a budget, you have to be pretty firm to stick to what you originally wanted. They will try to add the stairs, another room, for a discounted rate. Overall, I think they have a good reputation.

I have not used stanley steemer. my mom used them years ago and was pleased with them. I have used a local carpet cleaner in sugar grove, Steamgard. it is family owned. info is available at the sugar grove chamber website www.sugargrovechamber.org there is also another local carpet cleaner who has a good reputation. I think it is Avalon. also a chamber member. I have met dino a number of times and recently saw his card placed in a very nice home that is for sale. he had done all of their carpets and they looked great.
