I would like to find a gently used car seat to use as a secondary seat for my husband's car. Does anyone know where to find one? I've tried Craig's list with no success. Or does anyone have one they are ready to get rid of? Thanks.

What can I do next?

Garage sale season is upon us and I've seen a few. Check it out. Just make sure to check for an expiration date on the bottom. The plastic weakens over time.

I have a fisher price safe embrace car seat that my daughter is too big for. It is rear-facing till 30 lbs and forward-facing till 40 lbs. Not sure how old your child is, but this seat is in pretty good shape. I'd let it go for $25. My email is ____@____.com.

with springtime coming, it's time for yard sales, which i fully intend to hit as much as i can! the only thing is they will tell you not to use a "used" car seat because unless you know the person it came from, it could have been in an accident which basically they'll say makes it useless since you don't know what damage might have been done. if it's a risk you're willing to take, i would check out the garage sales. i would talk to whoever is selling it and see how you feel. i wouldn't think a mother would ever want to knowingly put another child in danger, but you never know with people.

Hi-

I am a mom of twins who just turned 5. I have a Cosco Alpha Omega Elite carseat that we used for about three years for one of our twins. It goes from infant to 100lbs, so it does convert to a booster. I have the original paperwork that it came with. It is in great shape other that about a 3/4 inch area of under where the childs legs go that shows some wear. It is clean, never been in an accident and I am asking $35 for it. It was originally a $129.00 seat. We decided to move our kiddos into the Graco Turbo Boosters about a year ago so they could buckle themselves. I sold one of them at the Johnson County Mothers of Multiples Sale last spring but have this one sitting in my basement and would love to get rid of it. Let me know if you are interested.

I second the not using a used car seat... especially from a stranger. You don't know if it's been in an accident, how it's been treated, or how old it is. It's not a risk I'd want to take. You can get inexpensive car seats from Costco, Wal Mart, & Target. I've heard they're pretty good seats too.

You might find a good deal on EBay too, might even be able to find a brand new one that's never been used for less than market price. Here's a link with my search results: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_tr...=
